FAIR GO PETITION.

Just curious if anyone has signed the "fairgo....." petition that is being pushed by management, and the reasons why.

I have so far abstained as I cannot bring myself for promoting a cause that I feel will ultimately lead to my job being outsourced (if foreign ownership restrictions are removed). I also find it quite bizzare that I was urged by the company and other staff to do so.

Just interested in the other side of the arguement from those participating or from those sitting on the fence.

blueloo 15th Dec 2013 21:41

I agree with you.

At this stage I won't sign it either.

I see my job disappearing either way. And I see no need to support some carbuncles on a sheep arse as they destroy a national icon.

BNEA320 15th Dec 2013 22:04

what national icon?

QF isn't a national icon.

itsnotthatbloodyhard 15th Dec 2013 22:09

A couple of years ago these clowns, who have shown little but arrogance and contempt for me and my colleagues ('polluting the culture', 'rogue pilots', 'kamikazes', etc), made the then industrial dispute all about 'management's right to manage'. With the termination by FWA, there was much trumpeting and crowing that their right to manage had been thoroughly upheld, and they could now get on with managing the airline in their usual brilliant manner.

So now, having squandered a fortune, trashed the brand, and given away as much of our flying as possible, they expect me to support them with this petition? Screw that. The hide of them, their shamelessness, knows no bounds.

Besides which, the petition isn't even asking for anything specific and thus seems pretty pointless.

QF isn't a national icon.
Yes it is ... err was.

waren9 15th Dec 2013 22:19

the "petition" makes no specific demand or request. which is what petitions do.

signing that is tantamount to giving bga a free reign to do what ever he likes carte blanche. later on, he will quite rightly be able to claim the support of many thousands of staff

anyone who signed that needs their heads read

BNEA320 15th Dec 2013 22:27

QF an icon ? When ?

QF was only ever an icon in QF minds. Anyone who thinks that is living in La, La land.

Just because QF in adverts tries to tell us they are Australian doesn't mean they are.

Has QF ever been 100% Australian or even close to it, since privatised ?

Wake up !!!

cocojam 15th Dec 2013 22:35

Petition

I flat refuse to respond to some hypocritical call to arms from these idiots running QF (AJ/LC).
Not aware of anyone who has attached themselves to this request for support.
These total morons screwing the company can fall on their own swords as far as I am concerned.
We need to get rid of current management before any good returns to this great airline.

Tankengine 15th Dec 2013 23:22

I WILL sign a petition calling for the immediate resignation of Joyce and Clifford with no golden parachutes!:E

Wally Mk2 15th Dec 2013 23:30

Be interesting to know if the fools at the top end of the food chain at QF read this stuff on PPrune or at least have one of their goons keep them informed. Pretty powerful tool social media these days.

Also be interesting to know what AJ has as an escape plan to get out of here with as much cash as he can when it all goes down the toilet.

petition lacks cred in that it is non specific about actions - reaility is that even the govt offer $ the issues rest within group accounting treatment of costs and revenue and the fact that even if you blindly accept the black box accounting, the (claimed) losses are opex.

The Q Sale Act's secondary implications are at the fore of the AJ program - in its current form it limits the scope of assignment of IASC route approvals. Total freedom on that front is the goal as it opens up the value of the franchises and that gives range for a larger market capital raising for the JQ product.

(Interstingly I was slammed by management a few years back for calling the JQ int ops 'franchises' ...... now its the overt descriptor .....

forget signing a petition for a corporate fair go - start by giving my shares a fair go by reducing the opex impacts of numpty management roles and their costly non-decisions

While I accept that the term "icon" is much misused these days and while I appreciate that 1993 is probably the dawn of time in your mind, you will need to go back to 1920 before you can begin to understand whether or not Qantas is or was an Australian icon.

Anthill 16th Dec 2013 05:17

I don't recall ever been given "a fair go" when Ansett collapsed. I seem to remember Dixon, Jackson and a host of others could not get the smiles off their faces. Whilst I would only like to see the miseries of the Ansett collapse visited on my worst enemies (none at QF )can't see any reason why I should sign a petition that was sent to me as spam email. Best of luck to you all, but I think that you will all be just fine.

Angle of Attack 16th Dec 2013 06:04

My equation is

Paycheck arrives = OK
Paycheck Stops = Go and work for another mob.
Petition = F Off.

Equation Over.. No need to overcomplicate things..

This formula has served me well over the years.....

VH-FTS 16th Dec 2013 08:04

From what I can work out BNEA320 was 2 or 3 in 1993, so yes, it was the dawn of time for him/her. Uni holidays allows him/her more time to troll on pprune and make comments based on some 'theory' or gossip that was heard during a lecture.

Curiously, Qantas is an icon in the rest of the world because of its safety record.

'You flew for Qantas did you?' 'Yes' ' They are the safest arent they?'. This is common.

blueloo 16th Dec 2013 08:23

oooooh noo... you have just opened the doors for the mob on the anti QF safety record.... here we go....

someone will now list every prang QF has had over the years...

wondrousbitofrough 16th Dec 2013 09:04

No, sorry, Qantas is known throughout the world as THE Australian airline. Nothing less.

I think most in the industry know the "safety record" thing is a farce, but its amazing how one can manipulate statistics to serve one's purpose...

That they have managed to use this as a fairly strong underlying marketing ploy is nothing short of impressive... the way I see it, credit where credit's due!:D

Might have also had something to do with Rainman

Whos on first, whats on second?

thecatinthehat 18th Dec 2013 21:01

Never will I sign nor encourage anyone I know to do so.

The vultures in the tower only care for themselves.

I look forward to the day when they walk out of QC with a box of their personal belongings in their hands and hopefully in handcuffs

5 years ago a Senior Manager advised that Qantas wasn't a National Carrier as we had no government support. Why now are we a National Icon/Carrier.

We are all screwed whether we like it or not. No fancy ad campaign and no amount of Pink, Red and Blue will save us.
