ANZ ATR72 in Kupang Indonesia?!
 

While departing Kupang in West Timor at 1730 local time today we waited for an aircraft to land before lining up. I swear it was an ANZ ATR72. The Koru on the fin is so distinctive. Could this be so or do I need to visit the optomitrist. If true, what on earth is it doing in Kupang. Surely if it's on a delivery flight the airline colours would have been removed?

Thanks for that. It hadn't occurred to me it could be on an inbound delivery flight. Would be a fun trip for the crew I reckon. I can defer the trip to the eye doctor..

Routing for the Southern Cross ferries (at least For VARA) are-

Toulouse, France - Trabzon, Turkey - Al Ain, AUE - Chennai or Colombo - Penang, Malaysia - Kupang, Indonesia - Brisbane

Not sure where the Mt Cook ones stop after Kupang before going onto NZ.

Yes, I've seen the VARA ATRs in Kupang a while back whilst on a ferry enroute to Aus. And I'm sure I've seen the Air NZ ATR-600 in Bali as well; a much better choice for an overnight than KOE!

You haven't been to the night market in Kupang then. My girlfriend loves seafood and the night market is just awesome, far better than any I've been to in Bali or anywhere else I've been to in Indonesia in fact, couldn't keep her away from the place. Kupang is a major fishing region. Fresh fresh fish of all types, prawns, crabs, you name it. Some lovely beaches nearby. And no tourists, no madness, no drunks, no Ozzie Oi Oi Oi, little traffic and only local prices. People are lovely, I reckon Kupang would be a great place for the ANZ crew to overnight!

They're generally not flown by Mount Cook as far as I've noticed. It's under a callsign SXC "Southern Cross" mostly French accents.

Delivery of ZK-MVD was contracted out due lack of capacity to release line crews to undertake a delivery.

Next delivery is Sep14, and might be crewed by Mt Cook if the capacity has been improved.

Hasn't all the 600 deliveries so far been carried out by Southern Cross?

The first delivery (MVA) was done by Mt. Cook crew. Not sure if they have done any others at all.

No, 2-4th deliveries were contracted, primarily due to lack of crew capacity but its actually cheaper, as the contract company operate the delivery as Prt91 and don't have to meet employment contract obligations.

The company has indicated that the 5th aircraft may be Mt Cook crewed.
