Skywest CP Resigns
Skywest chief pilot resigns Skywest's chief pilot is reported to have resigned amid rumours of tension in Skywest's management ranks following their takeover by Virgin Australia in April. Media is reporting that the Civil Aviation Safety Authority has written to Virgin requesting clarification of the chief pilot's status, as an airline is required to have a chief pilot in order to operate passenger services. (The source is the QF news, so take it with a grain of salt!!) |
Another outfit on the base needs DECs... Bigger, better, goes faster, higher and further too! :ok:
|
Full on. Where did you read this, out of curiosity?
|
Really Bloggs?
Who could that be? Everyone knows Skywest is the best If you need a second opinion, just ask them again |
Less pay though Bloggs. Isnt that why we work again.......

Apparently HOFO role 'restructured'. Was shown an email from the VARA CEO today who claims the CASA letter does not exist and the Fin Review has it wrong.
In any case, doesn't sound like the boys from Perth are feeling much love from the new owners. Was the HOFO stuck between a rock (the pilot group) and a hard place (management)? |
Perhaps it's because VA forced them onto "Velocity" Flight Number Callsigns?
Being dragged into the 21st century is not usually well received in WA :p |
I hear not only is the HOFO leaving, but a few more from within the senior flight operations department are also leaving.
|
CP didn't have the 'must haves' perhaps?
It's called Virgin loyalty, there isn't any. The company has been like that from day one and won't change. Sounds like the CP is just another statistic in Virgins disloyalty program. |
if you run a small charter business the flying head is called the chief pilot.
if you run a small regional airline the flying head is called the chief pilot. if you run a national airline the flying head is called the chief pilot. if you run an international airline the flying head is called the chief pilot. in each of those scenarios the chief pilot may be quite competent in the style of operation he knows well. but.... if you find yourself transitioning between one of those four options you may just find that a different mindset is required so that you dont become a Colgan. back to sleep.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |
Not in my HK company.
Each fleet has its own "Chief Pilot" The big boss/head honcho/big Cheese is called the "Director of Flight Operations" or "DFO" for short. Probably a British thing? |
Probably a British thing? Have heard of Fleet Managers as well as a Chief Pilot above. |
Portuguese registered, UK/German admin, US owned...
We used to have Fleet Managers, now known as Fleet Chiefs and overseeing is the Director of Flight Ops. DFO. |
Yawn.. Who cares.
