The poor old Quadrapuff looks like it has drawn her last breath ... poor girl :(

TWOTBAGS 8th May 2013 12:31

It used to be JJY of the Wombat Division :{

CargoOne 8th May 2013 12:51

I guess it was not the oil but petrol. They regularly carry drums with petrol and diesel on these flights to Wamena.

One of the fuel drums leaked whist unloading and spilled onto the hot brakes (no reservers) and Boom.

I have some pics which ill try to add later.

Q. What's the difference between a BAe146 and an onion?

A. Nobody cries when they cut up a BAe146.

It's sad to see another BAe 146 hit the dust... Many of hours were spent in the 146...

SIUYA 9th May 2013 07:57

Wamena's good at claiming BAe146's............this is its second one in just over four years.

The last one was the CFIT accident involving PT. Aviastar Mandiri, BAe 146-300, PK–BRD, in the circuit at Wamena on 9 April 2009. Aircraft destroyed and the 6 crew members fatally injured.

Ejector 9th May 2013 13:10

I really miss the mighty 146

Accident: Nusantara B462 at Wamena on May 8th 2013, aircraft burns down during unloading

ampclamp 10th May 2013 10:11

As much as I did not like the 146 that much it is sad to see this happen. Did quite a few hours on JJY.
What happened to JJZ?

Bankstown 10th May 2013 11:29

JJZ is now OB-1978T with Star Peru.
