Virgin Australia Flight Makes Emergency Landing At LAX
By Iris Salem | CBS Local - Los Angeles - 13 hrs ago LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Virgin Australia flight from Brisbane has made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport. The flight bound for LAX landed safely at Terminal 25 on Sunday morning after reporting trouble with its landing gear, possibly a tire. It’s unclear if the landing gear in fact had an issue. The Boeing 777-300 had 416 passengers on board at the time. No further information was available. |
416 pax on a 777-300.....I don't think so!
361 pax seats and normally 17 crew. Even if you add infants you still don't get close to 416. |
Emirates have 2 class B777-300ER with 442 seats......:ok:
Even our 3 class have 310/42/8 + 16 cabin crew & 4 Pilots = 380 POB |
361 pax seats according to the Virgin Australia website.

Good on you news.com.au and theaustralian.com au for using a picture of a 738 in your online articles :ok:

The Crew probably were made aware of a deflating tyre on the Gear Page. Slowly going flat, notified all concerned and landed.:ok:
I had the same thing on a 77W LAX to HKG 4 years ago. #3 main went flat after TO over a 2 hour period. We notified LAX to check the Runway ( nothing ) Spoke to HKG ATC and briefed them on what we needed and then Landed ok. Didn't touch the brakes at all on the left side and parked at the gate. :ok: The Engineer on headset said "what's the problem with the number 3 Tyre it looks ok"? Then he got a tyre pressure gauge, flat as a tack!! I never found out why it went flat, probably a nail while leaving LAX? It was non event in the end but we went through the motions anyway. ( had 15 hours to think about it !! ) |
Gotta watch out that you don't follow a builder's ute on take-off next time nitpicker. They're always dropping nails. :ok:
