Jetstar A330's

Wth Qantas drastically reducing it's A330 International Operations, (dropping 5 destinations while picking up 1) rumour has it that Jetstar are to acquire more of QF's A330's to fill the gap due to the 787's delay and performance limitations.

They will be leased to jet star. $5000 per month special mates rates

That would be a Wet Lease from QF Int.

it leaves the 4x 332's that are internationally configured to fill in the gaps of the 747 that was running domestically & also for syd/bkk/syd... Doubt they wold send anymore to JQ? Especially with VA hot on the heels?

Neutral

Overall QF A330 fleet utilisation following the latest network changes will be pretty much hours neutral. Gains approximate losses.
Not so good for B744 tho...

Capt Kremin 20th Feb 2012 04:43

Three days ago it was reported on the Fleet blog that later on this year QF will receive the last A330-200 ordered that was originally intended for JQ. So this rumour is a little difficult to credit.

Mr Leslie Chow 20th Feb 2012 07:12

Kremin don't let that get in the way of a QF rumour.

For shame

That's basically it. Broadly speaking, the A330s will be cascaded onto routes losing their B747s:
SYD-BKK daily requires 1 A330
MEL-HKG daily requires 1 A330
SYD-PER daily requires 0.5 A330s
SYD-NRT daily requires 1 A330 (I may be double-counting this one?)

The following A330s have been freed to cover this:
SIN-BOM frees 0.5 A330s
AKL-LAX frees 2 A330s
LAX-JFK reverting to Jumbo does not free any A330s due to its schedule.

It's late so I may be missing something here, but this is the broad jist of it.

There is only one of these per week. Going from the fleet blog, it looks like a reduction in hours.

SYD-NRT have to go a A330 once the B747 fleet is down to 9 (assuming that all current long haul routes stay). The A380/B747 fleet is going to be stretched fairly thin operating the following:

BNE-SIN will probably revert back to an A330 as B747s are retired.

We are obviously using much different timeframes.
