At least they got the landing in AFTER the take-off.

What are these journalists thinking with a headline like that? What other order can things occur in?

What part of the landing was an EMERGENCY?

The gear was stuck down.....how is that an emergency? If it was stuck up....Now you have a news worthy story :rolleyes:

No injuries? The thing landed with its gear down ;)

Seems in future in my flight plan under RMK it will have to read RMK ADSB EMERG GEAR DOWN, might as well start with the emergency planned:)

Landing Gear malfunction.
 
It is laughable that this, or any other minor malfunction, even makes the news. It would have been a far more newsworthy event had the gear not been able to be extended. It seems that almost any abnormality, perceived by fare paying passengers as a major problem, is advised to the media who cannot resist the "drama of it all". Having some media spokesman ( or spokeswoman) who come out and make statements in response does not help either. As for "The Crew did a good job", well, isn't that what they are trained to do????

Well I reckon the pilots should man up. It's not right that they be forced to do anything. Might as well just put a 'pooter up front to fly. Wonder why so many pilots have no free will? :ugh:

Like someone else said, it's only a problem when the gear gets stuck up.

In the hope that the journalist concerned might find this thread and reflect on their sensationalist headline...

How hysterical was that report! Does that reporter (and Editor, and I use the word advisedly) have any judgement for how "serious" (to most others - incidental) the event really was.

Let me suggest to that reporter and Editor how much less serious it might be that the landing gear was down, than it might have been if the landing gear had been stuck retracted. (there are also many many other situations which would be more serious).

I'm not taking a poll, but really, how many of us would rate this anywhere near an emergency? Ans: hardly any, right.

So what makes this reporter and this Editor think this is so newsworthy? Can it be that they have been waiting for an incident involving Tiger to jump onto the airline's case, hard? Maybe there is an alert system in Herald Sun """ALERT: TIGER: any incident: Remember air operators certificate"""".

Really, doesn't this show a lack of professionalism in reporting and a major lack of judgement in Editing in Herald Sun.

Oh yes. That's why I don't buy the newspaper. Not even for page 3.

But some people will. That says it all for me.

It would be about that point just after take off where you look over at the other pilot and ask "You checked the gear pins didn't you?" only to notice the slight look of confusion as the other pilot hesitantly replies 'I thought you did?' :E

I think you'll find it arrived with the gear doors down. No hydraulics to put them back up.

I think Capt Fathom was suggesting that the situtation indicated a failure, which perhaps could have just as easily happened when the gear was up. So whilst this was a lucky non-event, the failure may indicate an issue which may lead to Tiger being not so lucky next time.

Landing gear down lock actuator flex hose burst. Common fault on A320. Happened to JQ prob 5 times over last 2 years. No major problem.
