Hi All,

Does anyone have any idea if QF are looking at changing domestic around??

Thanks

Well, it is the most profitable segment of the business, so yes it is ripe for pillaging and within 12mths will be a loss making burden on the group.

I should so be in management!

Excellent question StGeorge, I'd been wondering the same thing myself. After all, it is the most profitable airline in the country, you'd think it would get some mention.

The only info I saw was on slide 22 of the 'Investor Presentation' where they mentioned:

Early retirement of B744, B767 and B743 aircraft
Deferred delivery of B738 aircraft
Non renewal of B738 and A320 lease
So it appears that they are planning to retire a portion of the domestic fleet early (767's & 734's), not renew leases on others (current 738's) and defer replacement aircraft (future 738's). Essentially a reduction in the size of the most profitable (flying) side of the business while throwing 110 brand new aircraft at a pipe-dream.:ugh:

I hope I am missing something as this appears to be dumb beyond belief.

Once the surgery is complete on the international side, all the fudge accounting will lumber domestic with huge costs making them unprofitable, probably about the time they are up for an EBA. Then the same crap will happen there.

Once domestic and international are both converted, the same will then happen with JQ, and once complete there, it will once again go back to international. The merry go round will continue to roll, with each segment targeted every 5 years or so.
