Bruce kicks another 'own goal'.

Unbelievable! What are these blokes on?
Jestar wants Asian wage deal: report | News | Business Spectator

Memo to Bruce. Keep going mate you are on fire.
Second memo to Bruce. The Australian Public and finally (about time) the institutional shareholders may have a few thoughts not aligned with Qantas group policy here.

Jestar wants Asian wage deal: report

By a staff reporter, with AAP

Qantas Airways Ltd offshoot Jetstar will look to Asia to hire more pilots and support staff as it seeks to compete on price with its main Asian rivals, according to a report in the Australian Financial Review.

Jetstar chief executive Bruce Buchanan told the newspaper plans to forge partnerships in the Philippines, as well as other Asian markets, would not be feasible if it is forced to offer the same wage agreements as Qantas.

"The market share of Australian carriers has been declining for years because of the growth of the Middle Eastern, Chinese and other carriers, and they're not doing it on Australian wages or contracts," Mr Buchanan told the AFR.

Meanwhile, Qantas pilots on Friday moved a step closer to strike action, as 400 pilots met with representatives from the Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) in Sydney to discuss a push for job security and pay increases.

The union is holding out on the threat of industrial action after negotiations with Qantas management over a new enterprise bargaining agreement (EBA) for international pilots broke down on Wednesday.

AIPA is seeking guaranteed employment of its pilot members as well as an annual 2.5 per cent pay increase.

So how do Middle Eastern carriers conditions compare to Jetstar conditions Bruce?..:ugh:

I think you'll find they pay them a lot more AND still make more money than JQ, VB, etc.

Pity we can't put Bruce on those non-Australian rates! Pretty sure the CEO's of SIA and BA (to name a couple) don't get paid anything like Bruce or his little Irish mate at QF.

I'm always curious to know why frontline staff are too expensive on 'Australian Rates' but, QF and JQ management are never too keen to have their salaries compared to their conterparts off-shore.

The sooner the federal government take a good hard look at the way these clowns are now overtly attempting to circumvent the intent of the Qantas sale act the better.

The individual is hardly a role model for my children.
His conduct on QF93 was disgusting whilst travelling as staff.
The follow up was equally reprehensible..
Brucey ain't real bright, much like his predecessor, following a script for the reform of waterfronts, airlines and any other thing the HR Nicolls society says needs work from the confines of the the neo conservative establishment.

His travelling companion sure had a grip on the situation !

True, but bright enough to load up the bank accounts to a an amount that would take your breath away !

I see Jetstar are reversing the decision to fit their A320's with non-reclining seats. No doubt due to considerable negative customer feedback. Affected aircraft to be retrofitted with standard reclining seats after another monumentally stupid decision to fit the non-reclining seats in the first place.

However, do we think Boston Bruce will be held accountable for approving the fitment of these non-reclining seats? Or the cost of replacing them? Fat chance. He'll find some way of turning a KPI for himself out of this little debacle though and continue on his merry way doing the best he can to subvert the Qantas Sale Act.

OnYa Jetstar! :ugh:

The only thing CEO's are accountable for today is loading up their wallets.
As for the KPI bonus that is a must, probably he will get a bonus per seat in the fleet, even if a third of the seats have been removed and replaced and are sitting in a dusty shed somewhere.

I note on an international job site that Jetstar are recruiting for direct entry captains as well as cadet FO positions for Singapore.
