EK to operate Boeing 777-200LRF Sydney direct New York in December
From Thunderstorms to Snow in 17 hours & 45 minutes......:ok:
|
Horse Sh*t. EK don't have the rights to fly between Australia and the US non stop. If SQ can't get the rights, EK haven't got a snow flakes chance in hell of getting it.
|
Any chance this is just a one-off freight flight.
777-200LRF |
Am calling bull$hit on that one...
The 777F can't even do the Pacific nonstop unless it carries virtually no freight! Has only a 4K mile range with a full load. |
Have a look at the Boeing 777 pairings for December. It's a round the world pattern in 9 days. Dubai - Sydney - New York - Dubai in the freighter. Like I said thunderstorms to snow in 17 hours & 45 minutes...
|
I hope they are not fitted with RR Trents, or if they are they have Aux Oil Tanks!!!!! & Floats on the Gears.......

Band equipment
|
If what is being discussed in this thread is true then it's probably rostered as a 2 pilot operation. :ugh: :)
|
No GB-
It will be 4 crew and, unlike QF, there will TWO Captains and TWO F/Os. ALL our pilots are actually qualified to fly the aircraft from Take-off to touch down.... |

Wiz,
What are you on about, all QF Captains (naturally) and F/Os are "so qualified". Using S/Os ( as QF has done since at least 1958) instead of extra Captains and F/Os for a heavy crew is good economics. Tootle pip!! |
FoxtrotAlpha18.
Do you know what you are talking about ? The B777-200LRF can carry over 100 tonnes of payload over the range you mentioned. This is almost a B747-400F payload. If the EK aircraft are fitted with the optional fuel tanks as on the passenger versions the SYD-JFK sector will not be a problem if the payload is 'light'. The B777-200LR endurance is over 20 hours with a 'light' payload if the optional tanks are fitted. |
Read what I said again carefully...
Full load = ~4KNM Light load = Pacific nonstop... :ugh: |
Hey LeadSled,
I wouldn't sound so smug when using '...S/O...Qantas...&...good economics...' in the same sentence. The term oxymoron springs immediately to mind. "Why?" I hear you all call in unison! Somewhere between $140K and (if rumour is true and if the A380 were still flying...) $180K, I would argue, makes very little economic sense for a relief pilot. Any EK drivers out there willing to post what the average per-annum remuneration is for an F/O? It'd make an interesting comparison. As for the reason that the B772LRF is coming to Aus - I've been sworn to secrecy - but I can give a couple of little clues; (a) take into account the rest periods required prior to/following a long back-of-the-clock tour of duty, and (b) consider the arrival and departure dates given by gate4 in his reply, and lastly, (c) assume that the weight of eight reindeer, one sleigh, lots of presents and one rotund (but pleasantly happy) & bearded elderly chap does not exceed 30000kg. I can't give any other details away though...;) |
Ask the ex Qf guys already in Ek. Why did they leave ? Better pay and much faster promotional prospects. Stop trying to stir and fish for an argument over T&C . I nor any other pilot in Qf needs to justify what we earn. Why didn't you join your national carrier instead of an airline that operates outside the normal parameters of airline protocols and management.?
|
EK would be the worst airline flying internationally out of Australia. Question: How many seats can you fit into a EK 777-300???
|
360 seats in a B777-300ER Stallboy.
