As mere SLF I would like to give praise to the Captain on last nights Qantas flight from Brisbane to Perth, 30/3/10 QF597.
I was a business class passenger (don't hate me!) and had the brief opportunity to quickly chat with Captain P J. Asked him our ETA etc. He was very cheerful and friendly. Seemed like a great bloke. I was seated in a window seat close to the cockpit so on landing in Perth had an excellent view of the runway. The Captain made a perfect landing right on the numbers? (Not sure what you guys call it, the zebra crossing thing with the runway numbers anyway...) It was the smoothest landing I can remember ever having. The plane just seemed to kiss the tarmac with no shock or jolt. If you were not aware we were landing, you wouldnt have noticed. Obviously P J is a very good pilot. In the hope he reads this, great work. I don't think most SLF realise the skill in pulling off a perfect landing like that. Cheers! |
JST,
Message passed to PJ. :ok: Regards, BH. |
Thanks JST......message passed on to Capt PW.

The Captain made a perfect landing right on the numbers? (Not sure what you guys call it, the zebra crossing thing with the runway numbers anyway...) Never mind, it was a SMOOTH landing, the thing most passengers judge a flight by. Never mind anything that could have gone wrong for a myriad of reasons (not this airline specific, necessarily) due to: potential navigational errors, possible fuel critical state, maybe more MEL's than really desired, deteriorating weather that wasn't forecast, pilot fatigue etc etc. The landing was SMOOTH - that's all that matters and that makes it a good flight. Asked him our ETA etc. JST, is your post a wind up? Or maybe the skipper is your brother!!!! |
Jonny, just in case you don't 'get' the post by SJ.
If Peter did land on that Zebra thingy with the numbers on it, he may shortly be enjoying a 'Cup of Tea & Biscuits' with Capt. PW (The Qantas Chief Pilot) Perhaps you might like to edit whereabouts you thought the aircraft touched down, if appropriate. |
Hey Stubby,
Who is Capt PW Doh, now I get it and only two beers so far.! :8 and witwiw, What an unusual response from you mate! :yuk: Regards, BH. |
Wind up alert folks. Just have a read of JST's post history. A bored journalist perhaps?
|
......don't worry guys-I took JST's post as a "wind up" !
Anyway am damn sure ..Capt PW has got better things to occupy his time. Landing on the... "zebra crossing thing". mmmmm Me thinks JST may have enjoyed the superb Vino Rosso served in J/C-had a power nap just before the left hand turn over Mundaring and woke as the aircraft sailed off onto the taxi way -then got his numbers, jolts & zebra kissing confused ;) |
What would have happened if I actually was critical of one of you guys?
BTW, my sentiment still stands for that Captain, I am very sorry this thread turned out this way, it certainly was not the intention. |
Quoting from a previous contribution from JST on another thread. A windup artist, troll, or whatever you want to call it. Don't waste your time replying to this guy.

Reading this forum is great entertainment in the main, it is sooo funny watching you guys and girls bicker like school children. The reason for posting today is I simply cannot believe that you wasted so much energy over an initial post that is clearly ironic. Unless you are of course German. Or Dutch. The differences of opinion you have amazes me. Even on technical matters, you all seem to take great pleasure in bagging the crap out of each other. You guys are a worry. I just have to ask, do you guys all hate each other? Or is the required ego to fly a passenger aircraft too large to get on with folks generally... |
And now I am vindicated. Grow up.

Moderators....
Where is the padlock? Waste of time thread alert! "Yeah well you smell" "Well you smell worse!" "You are what you say you are!" Blah, blah, blah.... |
It appears to be a genuine compliment, which I am sure the crew will appreciate.
However, our Dunnunda News forum is not the place for threads of this nature. |
