Air NZ Diversion to WLG

Stuff.co.nz is reporting an "Emergency Landing" at Wellington of NZ535 flying from AKL to CHC.

"But an Air New Zealand spokeswoman said it was a flight from Auckland to Christchurch that was "diverted", and was not an emergency landing.

Air New Zealand spokeswoman Tracy Mills said staff noticed a smell of smoke onboard and so the plane was diverted."

O my God, the inevitable total CR*P from a totally impeccable source, the walking freight, if who they had another brain cell it would be lonely.
Not nice at all to have fire, smoke or fumes in or about the aircraft, but yet again idiot reporting of an aircraft incident gives the wrong impression.

Air NZ flight no. 535 (Auckland to Christchurch) was forced to divert to Wellington (NZWN) when the smell of burning rubber permeated the cabin.
The aircraft landed without incident at 3:35 pm and the passengers left the 'plane normally.
