Jetstar looking for Contract FOs
What's going on in Jetstar, I've heard they're looking for contract FO's for the next few months? Anybody know anything about this? They have approached a European company for FO's.

I assume that this is for the NZ operation?
|
Have heard its to get the ball rolling etc, until the new guys are rated etc.. Most of the f/o's joining are not rated, hence the need for fill ins until these guys are checked to line etc...
|
From what I'm hearing it's for 4 months and NZ bases although maybe be any of Jetstars bases.

Jestar expanding??
I know of Aussies based in Singapore, flying for Jetstar Asia on A320s, recently being brought back to Australia and NZ to fly local Jetstar aircraft.
I was in Singapore recently, ads in local papers for cabin crew. Based locally but will be required to fly to Asia, Australia, and my guess is also Europe. Qantas cannot compete with its high base cost, my guess is that Jetstar will start flying to Europe sooner rather than later. Perhaps excess QF aircraft will soon be under JQ livery to save costs. |
Maybe an opportunity to move back home for some......
|
Whilst there is a looming surplus and potential redundancies in Qantas.
So much for the MOU!:uhoh: |
I've heard from a very reliable source it's a CTC contract using easyJet crew for a NZ based contract position.
Probably Airbus FOs. |

easyJet have issued a NTC asking for 10 experienced F/Os for a 4 month period for the Jetstar NZ operation. Can anybody shed any light upon the local pilot's attitude to short-term contract pilots - would they be welcomed, or would they be stepping upon someone's toes?

What do you think Einstein?:bored:

Interesting, I have been effectivley in the que for a job for around 12 months and was told I am being considered for a position with Jetstar NZ, I said I was happy with this around 3 weeks ago and have not heard anything since??? Typerated, Full Residency and could be there in a couple of months.
|
blow.n.gasket QF sent a few B737 FOs to Europe to fly for easyJet a couple of years ago. I think they were here in 2007 for about 6-9 months.

For what their offering for local FO's I'd say you guys are welcome to the jobs for as long as you want! Just make sure the p*&ks have to pay you a decent contract rate.
|
I hope that Jetstar have to pay the full market rates for these contract pilots rather than the pittance that they want to pay.

My comment to a UK Pilot considering it was that the Flight deck may be ' A bit Frosty'. But no need to be, it is quite normal to bring in Contract Pilots for a start up operation, have been one myself. As for the line of applicants i suspect there is not much of a Q and one of the reasons for the Contract Pilots may be delay in recruitment while Jetstar throw the line back in with more bait. This is based in the history of applications from within my Turboprop Company.
Further the Euro Prettyboys will not come over without a pretty good deal, its coming up Summer over there so it will need to be full contract rate. Unless Easy try and flog off a few Cadets fresh from Hamilton which would be a really bad idea. Ideal looking applicants like AH seems to be often seem to be ignored by recruiters- a mystery. I say these contract Pilots deserve a good reception and good on them. Unless Qantas Pilots are being laid off. |
Hope those guys have been to places like Queenstown and Wellington in a 320, might find a babtism of fire awaiting them.
Seems arrogant to start a new operation into these extremely tricky airports without a good experience base to draw on. Good luck to them for the first few months, might see a few diversions I reckon. |
And the pay!!
$10,750 NZD per month ... for a contract F/O for 4 months |
Yes they will need the luck because of the 100+ destinations easyJet fly to there are no tricky airports.
At all. Period. :ugh: |
