Who forgot to put the BIG bolts in???

US plane parts fall from sky in Brazil

interesting to say the least:eek:

Engine pieces from a US plane have fallen from the sky in Brazil, hitting 22 houses and a car but sparing passengers and residents on the ground.

Pieces of one of the turbines of the DC-10 plunged to the ground early on Thursday in the Amazon jungle town of Manaus in northern Brazil. The plane is owned by the Miami, Florida-based Arrow Cargo company.

Television images showed houses with damage to their roofs as an engine piece nearly 2 metres long laid nearby in front of amazed onlookers.

Rai Marinho is Arrow Cargo's station manager in Manaus. She says the plane carrying four people was able to continue its flight to Bogota, Colombia, using its other two engines. She says the company will pay for damages.

I was wondering what those extra bolts in the top of my toolbox were for... :}

WangFunk 27th Mar 2009 08:10

Apparently it takes more nuts than bolts to fly a DC10:}

Nothing to do with not enough bolts. If you look at the thread in rumours and news you will find it came off because the turbine sawed it off.:ok:

Just another fuel saving device, thought up by the beancounters!
