Virginblue - Today Tonight Story
I'm not sure if anyone saw the story on Wednesday night however the, overly dramatized story showed a Youtube video of an ex - Virgin Blue baggage handler hurling cargo from the hold a a 737-800, quoted by tonight tonight "like a bowling alley". They then had a guy come on saying how he had lost $2000 worth of "IT" equipment on a flight from BNE - SYD and that he would never fly Virgin Blue again. Seems like poor journalism on Today Tonight's part. I thought surely that it would've been common sense not to place computer equipment in the hold.
Any thoughts on this ? |
One of the most efficient professional bag snatchers I've seen in a while. In all seriously what did he do wrong he was just doing his job the best he could, Qantas could use a few guys like him on their team.
Just my opinion…....Ready for incoming....... |
If it's fragile pack it accordingly. End of story really. Today Tonight stories aren't worth the film used to shoot them. In fact, I can't believe that I'm commenting on one of their stories.

re baggage handler
maybe the customers bags containg the it equipment did have a fragile sticker on it - in my days as a bag thrower that mean't "drop gently"
but how do you get the bags to the rear of the locker if the aircraft doesn't have magic carpet fitted - throw them hehehehehehe |
Today Tonight is gutter trash journalism at its best. I have never seen a show that is so consistantly one sided and full of errors. Sorry but I cannot stand TT.

Today Tonight is gutter trash journalism at its best. The ABC's 7.30 Report at least can be described as journalism. Likewise Foreign Correspondent. |
Bad Reporting.
I just received an email from a friend at Virgin telling of this event. It was me!!!!! I'm the one pitching bags. I was a PC3 crew leader in BNE - jumped in the front hold hamming it up a bit. Never abusing bags. Sheesh. Thanks for the note reg best bag snatchers you'd seen in a while. I always wanted a copy of that but never saw it. I've been in the states for 4 years, so that must have been taken just over 5 years ago. I'd like to see one of those TT reporters jump in there and unload a full 800 - no carpet with a crew of 4 in less than 30 minutes. We used to do often when short staffed. So much for my chances of getting back in with Virgin should I ever move back. :) My Virgin friend even said at one point, I noted a "fragile" sticker and walked the bag to the door. We worked hard but didn't damage bags on purpose. I remember moving a bag once that had red wine running out of it. Idiots. I know how to pack my bags now.
