Let's also hope it also stays flying as V's current pricing offer is not commercially sustainable on the ever diminshing pac route...would hate to see it consigned to PER shuttles as a fall back. |

Delivery to V Australia is on 26th Jan, then the aircraft will be ferried to Victorville for galley fitout, and will arrive Sydney on Feb 9th after possibly transitting another Australian port to clear C & I, before heading to Sydney, probably for a party in the Virgin tradition. :ok:

I see where you are going with this. It makes perfect sense. Why stick with the proven low cost model of common type that has made virgin successful all over the world. Why wouldn't VA be the first to introduce a widebody from a different manufacturer to supplement their narrow body airbus fleet. Think of the benefits of the extra training costs, recruiting, maintenance, ground handling. I can't understand why somebody didn't think of it before.

Well folks, they are actively taking bookings and allowing ticket issue. We have made a few after going through all sorts of hoops to get their plate. This is not to mention a second string BSP program that costs us to participate in.
As for the fares on offer being non viable on the Pacific, please be aware these are the "lead in" fares". The regular fares are within 5% of the incumbents and a new player needs to attract a following and a baseload for a new service. I did note today that UA has price matched within dollars, but with their drop to 3% commission I know who I will be offering first, with brand new equipment and crews that aren't due for a walking frame in the cabin. We do get a flown override, but that aint the point. The PA route is one of the most expensive in the world, and has been a cash cow for QF and UA. I still can't figure why NZ didn't reopen the NZ14/15 service SYDLAX which was well supported. Maybe a nice tradeoff with QF? Just doesn't make sense. Best all EWL |

Word from the Townsville refueller, backed up by the New York Mechanic :) is that they can't get finance for the other aircraft without loaning against the current VB fleet... so the idea of keeping all "group" airlines separate has fallen down and become useless and expensive.:confused: ...handing over: |
The difference is PB has a contract company paying wages. VB & VA is paid direct from VB holdings. That's the difference.

The first VOZ 777 is leased from ILFC, the next 3 have been finanaced by the US EXIM bank. Source VB Intranet. ;)
