QF..Changing of the Guard

Captain Chris Manning is to retire and Captain Peter Wilson is to takeover as Chief Pilot as of September.
Posted on the company Website late today

I believe Brian K is also retiring from Virgin Blue sometime this year. Good luck to both in retirement.

QF CP

Fact or rumour? Because that has been whistling around the corridors of power for awhile.

QFinsider 24th Jul 2008 07:57

It is fact.

Good riddance

Keg 24th Jul 2008 08:16

Was in the office today and over heard a couple of people talking about it. I still call that 'unconfirmed' and 'second hand'. :ok:

busdriver007 24th Jul 2008 08:33

Keg,
It is on CIS, can't get more official than that.:ok:
I see he is not going back to the line. I don't think he is game.

Keg 24th Jul 2008 08:52

So it is. Congrats to Pete. I enjoyed flying with him on the 767 years ago and the A330 guys seem to like him as a boss.

I hope Chris has an enjoyable retirement. I always got on with him OK but I know that some didn't.

Jed Clampett 24th Jul 2008 09:46

Good riddance. I coudn't give a sh......t about his retirement. Never did anything for the pilot body as a whole. Took his money and has run. Just a mouthpiece for the Dixon spin. I do have time for PW and wish him all the best. Couldn't be any worse! (I hope!!!!)

..........typical QF -as soon as the EBA was a done deal with AIPA=

BOOT

I agree with Jed....good riddance. His bullying style will be better suited as Chief of the Stazi.

Anyways......anyone with a number plate of CCM-747 -really has an issue with their ego's:rolleyes:

busdriver007 24th Jul 2008 11:17

Stubby Jumbo,
I don't think the EBA ia deal done.

stiffwing 24th Jul 2008 14:13

Derek,
I've been away for a while (o/s)..
Can you tell me where GD said what you quoted re delays and the papal flight?
Ta.

hotnhigh 24th Jul 2008 19:20

So one could say 'The King is dead.'

Autobrakes4 24th Jul 2008 20:41

re PW: why wouldn't you promote the architect of the best EBA ever negotiated from the Company's point of view.

The Company would rightly think that PW was the biggest legend ever for this EBA, and would want it signed tomorrow!

Not very good from the pilots point of view though!

C441 25th Jul 2008 00:32

Given that the CP will always represents the company's interests in this day and age, Peter Wilson is the best choice available from the pilot's perspective.

The former CP of Australian (CNS) and current head of Jetconnect would have been a good choice too.

Mud Skipper 25th Jul 2008 02:43

PW CP

Jed C,
Have to agree with your comments, good riddance.....
Don't always like what PW has to say but have a lot more respect for the man. Lets see how we go.

PS, hmm don't think I like his EBA though!:\

Transition Layer 25th Jul 2008 03:23

Anyone care to suggest a new career for Manning? B777 skipper with V Oz? :}

I heard a role at CASA (perhaps even the top job) is on the cards...

Capt Fathom 25th Jul 2008 03:47

Isn't the CEO position becoming vacant?? :E

mustafagander 25th Jul 2008 03:48

Is Long Bay Prison short of a guard or two?

jakethemuss 25th Jul 2008 04:21

Skipper, it's not his EBA it is Garry Duggans

lambsie 28th Jul 2008 04:59

Finally, the biggest bully in the history of aviation has left the playground. Now that his protector has announced his departure, the big scaredy cat is running away with his tail between his legs.

It was insulting that he was called a Chief Pilot. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say. :D
