What's happening?

RYAN TCAD 2nd Jul 2008 12:32

...doesn't look like alot mate!

but then again, not much ever has in a hurry!

Bo!

Going Boeing 2nd Jul 2008 16:38

& this is not the forum to be dicscussing it.

Mud Skipper 2nd Jul 2008 18:35

Private Qantas Forum?

You are perhaps right Going Boeing but where else can you ask?
Qrewroom is so far compromised that only the bravest will post for fear of reprisals, if not from the company them perhaps even from individual union members.

Not that defamation & smear can be acceptable but perhaps it's time we had an Airline Specific Private Forum for Qantas pilots to discuss these issues out of clear management review?

Until that day (never) I guess we have to talk somewhere, it's lot like there is much to talk about with our EBA.:ugh::ugh::ugh:

fender 2nd Jul 2008 23:36

Come on guys,
We all look up to you to set the standard and show us what we are worth. Show some b@()s and take a stand.
Now is the time for unity and go for 27% pay rise. Nothing less.

Good luck.

blow.n.gasket 2nd Jul 2008 23:49

Was that an attempt at a wind up Fender?

We all know that if this EBA was up to the pilot's it would have been done and dusted prior to the expiry of EBA7.
Obviously there has been an Industrial agenda propagated by Oldmeadow Consulting resulting in the delay after delay and apparent lack of good faith at certain times coming from the company.
I personally think the AIPA boys ,Garry et al ,have been very patient through out this long drawn out campaign.
How about we let them finish it ,and not give into "bargaining fatigue" just yet.
My 2 cents worth.

fender 3rd Jul 2008 00:05

Was a subtle wind up with a dusting of truth.

Point being, it isn't easy dealing with companies that would rather see it go to the wall than give its front line troops remuneration worthy of their abilities.
Public doctors just got 76% pay rise, because they threatened to resign enmass and UNITED.
We saw what happend when pilots tried it some years ago... CHAOS.
etc etc.

LTBC 3rd Jul 2008 00:48

Like the washout after EBA7, perhaps the measure of EBA8 will finally create the impetus for real change.

genex 3rd Jul 2008 05:46

Why is this not the place to discuss the Long Haul EBA.....?

During the recent Jetstar EBA voting I thought AIPA made it quite clear that each group of Qantas pilots had the right....if not the iron responsibility....to comment on EBAs in other parts of the Group, in public too and no-holds barred.

And in any case, if AIPA have their way every JQ pilot (prior to the consequent demise of the whole Group) will be covered by the Qantas EBAs so this is only bringing forward the public debate. In fact, since Jetstar allowed AWA pilots to vote on the recent JQ EBA (since the AWA pilots would one day work under the EBA) wouldn't it be only fair for all the JQ long-haul pilots to vote on the Qantas Long Haul EBA for the same reasons?

Let's have it all out in the open.....

I only ask the questions.....

OneDotLow 3rd Jul 2008 06:48

genex,

people have no problem with you chatting away about the qf LH eba on whatever forum you choose to dribble over... as many mainliners no doubt did when you signed up for whatever you signed up for.

however for those who hold stake in the current round it would be preferable if discussions took place elsewhere.

time for a qf private forum here methinks.

priapism 3rd Jul 2008 07:25

With respect fender , public Doctors are a little harder to replace than long haul Flight Attendants.

Shazz-zaam 3rd Jul 2008 08:03

With all due respect Priapism. I think you don't understand the topic.
It's about the Pilots EBA not the Flight attendants.

fender 3rd Jul 2008 08:13

With respect pri, Its about any working group.

Reeltime 3rd Jul 2008 08:15

I suggest this thread be renamed:

' Calling all trolls..calling all trolls..'

Lets discuss this in Qrewroom, or at Fatties for F@%ks sake..

genex 3rd Jul 2008 10:25

One Dot Low,

Pleeeeeeeeze forgive my little attempt at ironic humour.....ai haven't signed for any EBA and never will....but it did seem at the time that friends were considering it that everyone and their dog had an opinion on what JQ pilots were doing. Just seemed weird that some feel the need to attach a higher level of provacy to their own EBA.

Personally, I think all pilots are woefully underpaid and I wish the mainline drivers well. You won't have had the opportunity to fly big twins with green F/Os on very long range routes but I can tell you it gets awful lonely way out there in the boondocks. I doubt if any managers from the non-ops areas could possibly imagine the challenges.

Having said all of that I hope there is good situation awareness among your negotiators about the state of the world just now. I know not a few JQ drivers who are very happy they did sign their EBA against all the AIPA advice that "things would get better if you hold off". Be sure you guys in your private forum let a bit of fresh air in and some outside devils advocate views so you don't do something silly.

Again...apologies for having upset you. Won't try irony again. And I don't yet dribble.....over forums, in the bathroom or at the beach. But I suppose that day is not too far away.

fender 4th Jul 2008 04:24

AIPA and ALAEA unions get together to unite and discuss future EBA negotiations.
What a great idea!

Mstr Caution 4th Jul 2008 04:37

Heard an EBA 8 briefing package should be distributed to the troops within a week (or so)

Keg 4th Jul 2008 04:41

Whilst I'd prefer the discussion to be on Qrewroom, I'm not naive enough to think that it won't attract comment on PPRUNE. So genex, if the QF LH pilots EBA gets into the public domain then you are more than welcome to comment on the pros and cons of said document.

CPI pay rises, fleet pay, 6% bonuses, divisor pay for all, full ATO allowances. These all seem to form part of the proposal. Don't know what the quid pro quo is yet. I guess we'll know more when the formal document is released.... hopefully sometime soon. :ok:

Mstr Caution 4th Jul 2008 04:42

wouldn't it be only fair for all the JQ long-haul pilots to vote on the Qantas Long Haul EBA
Is Japan & Honolulu considered longhaul flying now?

If so Continental USA, Joberg & Europe must be the Ultra Long Haul ops then!
