Dash 8 Pay
What is a good pay in Oz for a Dash 8 driver. what is the conversion rate and Cost of living/marginal tax rate thanx
|
$65K for F/O
$110K for Capt |
Krusty - who pays that? Coastwatch? Is that including allowances?
Cheers. |
The question was:-
What is a good pay in Oz for a Dash 8 driver. $65K for F/O $110K for Capt $2,000,000 for a Captain and $1,000,000 for a F/O would be great pay for a Dash 8 driver. KRUSTY never actually said that anybody in OZ is paying that, but merely answered the question. |
Yeah ok, but I think the original poster's intended question would read something like "What are the best paid Dash8 pilots being paid in Australia?"
I thought the Coastwatch guys might be getting something close to that with allowances etc. |
Just my poor attempt at humour.:)
|
NG,
not that poor an attempt at all, and you hit the nail on the head of course. I think you'll find that the Eastern pilots pay around $50K for an F/O, and High 80's or ninety'ish for a Capt. Plus allowances. Pehaps, $8K P/A? Sunstate pay their Dash drivers I think 7% extra to fly the -400. Don't know if these are the highest paying Dash jobs in the country, but as I alluded to earlier, they probably need to pay a lot more. |

:) Pilots covered by this Agreement will be paid the following;
* All Pilots employed at the date of certification will translate to the new structure with effect from 1st July 2002. * Transitional increments are to be calculated on current years of service plus one year. * Pilots then progress to the next level of service at the anniversary of their start date as is the current practice. * once translated into the new structure the 3% increase operative from 1st July 2002 and 1st July 2003 will apply. No pilot can suffer a reduction in years/levels of service. Current Transition 1/07/02 1/07/03 Dash 8 Captain 1 $68,152 $69,038 $70,197 $72,303 2 $695037 $70,015 $71,109 $735242 3 $69,931 $70,992 $72,115 $74,279 4 $70,820 $71,969 $73,122 $75,315 5 $71,717 $725946 $74,128 $76,352 6 $72,606 $73,923 $75,134 $77,388 7 $73,498 $74,900 $76,141 78,425 8 $74,392 $75,880 $77,147 $79,461 9 ($77,250) $785156 $80,501 10 ($79,568) $81,955 Dash 8 First Officer Under Training $36,428 $36,428 $37,521 $385647 1 $425857 $435759 $445143 $455467 2 $43,409 $44,370 $455072 $46@424 3 $43,965 $44,981 $45,701 $47,072 4 $44,524 $45,591 $46,330 $47,720 5 $45,081 $46,202 $46,959 $48,367 6 $45,637 $46,813 $475588 $499016 7 $46,194 $47,425 $48,217 $49,664 8 $46,752 $47,425 $48,848 $505313 NOTE: To aid the understanding of the above table, two examples are provided: (a) Current year 8 pilot $74,394 will translate into the new structure at $75,880. This rate will be increased by the 3% wage movements to $78,156 effective 1st July 2002 and the following year the pilot will progress to level 10 increment which is adjusted by the second 3% effective 1st July 2003 rate of $81,955. (b) Current year 4 pilot $70,820 will translate to the new structure at $71,969. This rate will be increased by 3% effective 1st July 2002 to $74,128. The pilot will progress to level 6 after 12 months or at anniversary date whichever is sooner and receive the second 3% wage adjustment effective 1st July 2003. The pilot will continue to progress annually through to year 10. Hope this helps! |
Thanks all anybody know what the marginal tax rate at75k would be. Also what is aerorescue paying for the 328's Thx Pig
|
Tax
Gidday,
$75k translates to $1442 per week. Tax payable on that is $368 per week leaving you $1074 in the hand. THat sort of money in Australia is certainly comfortable, but if you're planning on buying a house you won't end up taking much home with you at the end of your stay. :( |
Aerorescue 328 pay is a bit under $70K plus flying allowances paid on revenue flights. But they don't do much flying.
Marginal tax rate is 30% up to about 85K. |
Thanks just doing my taxes, and federal tax rate is 27%+9%provincial. throw in gst and pst and marginal tax rate here around 45%

Dash Trash
Wow, and my measly 35/yr as a 1st year Captain in the US seems...... un-noteworthy. Heard a few contracts that have captains direct entry at 65 to 80 a year, USD. That's overseas, one Japanese and one Africa.
Why do all the cool jobs make nothing? The Twotter on floats job only pays 25/yr USD, but that's right seat. The left seat starts at 54/yr, but that's still hard to feed the jr and misses on. Ronin |

These A%#holes really crack me up!
Are things in Canada that bad? Offer decent T&C's and you will retain and recruit Aussie crews. Hopefully the Canadians will value their profession a lot more than what is on offer, and avoid this bulls%#T accordingly. |
Is it open slather yet to giving away working visas to pilots yet?
Seems National Jet has it for the Dash-8's. Saying they will help with Visas.:ok: |
Why do crews have to be either Canadian, South African, Kiwis or British Citizens to be considered for employment with Surveillance Australia. Guys like me that have a residence visa for OZ and the right licence feelthat is very depressing. For a government contract that is strange.
