Virgin Blue Cans Per-bme

Heard tonight that DJ has withdrawn its PER-BME service effective May 1st :suspect:

Is this due to their lack of available tech crews that according to their spin doctors isn't the problem at all :hmm:

Bad time to pull out just as the tourist season is due to commence

wrongwayaround 23rd Apr 2007 12:58

:ooh: I'm certainly having trouble believing that? They always increased flights in the dry season.

If this is true... Things really are drying up there! wow.

DJ out of Broome???

 If you look on their website they still list flights going to and from Perth/Broome in May under their schedule of flights. But if you try to book a flight to or from Broome in May you can't do it!! Strangely enough you can book flights in June........ mmmmmm.......the plot thickens!!!!!

I heard a whisper that Alliance may be running the flights on their behalf. All because of a lack of drivers - you'd think that'd be the impetus to get the AWA sorted, wouldn't you?

I heard a whisper that Alliance may be running the flights on their behalf.
More than just a whisper. That is exactly what this brilliant management team is doing to alleviate the imagined lack of crews!:ugh:

Actually, I'd prefer they sort the EBA out rather than any AWAs!!!:(

Moniker 23rd Apr 2007 23:37

eek ..

AWA
:uhoh: Freudian slip :ugh:

Unless Alliance bring in an additional machine I can't see them doing it as their two PER based machines have morning and afternoon departures and the return isn't until around 2000 in the evening. They do have the capacity on the weekend though...

Alliance like all jet operators have a capacity problem (lack there of) at present and the BHP nickel west contract doesn't help as it ties up 2 aircraft for a total of around 2000-2500hrs/year. Not high utilisation but still a nice contract to have. Moving an additional machine from over east will detract from their operations over there.

I would have thought OzJet and Skywest would have the additional evening lift the DJ may need to cover this.....

Moving an additional machine from over east will detract from their operations over there.
I'm sure there'd be the opportunity to do just that - isn't there one just about to come on line? Then there are one or two f50's floating around somewhere before they start the OLD flying, maybe they'll swing into action somewhere around the traps.

One solution for DJ,
OPEN A PERTH CREW BASE- They would be flattened in the stampede from DOZENS of experienced jet crews...............................

Capn Bloggs 24th Apr 2007 00:53

Ha. Abother "blow-in" from THE EAST which can't hack the pace and runs back over the border with his tail between it's legs! The capacity hole will be quickly soaked up by NJSs ooops QFLinks extra 3 717s! :} Bring 'em on!

GoNorth 24th Apr 2007 02:07

So when did NJS become a WA company? :E

apacau 24th Apr 2007 04:12

Hmmm, Alliance to operate for DJ on PER-BME and DJ supposedly going to market RPT seats on Alliance's ADL-OLP flights...

sounds like something a bit deeper. Curious considering the Virgin EMBs here later this year are a direct competitor capacity-wise to the F100s.

Virgin Blue Cans PER-BME

Look at that title....and here I was thinking we were getting into a thread about trying to beat Boonie's record for drinking on an aircraft. Dammit!

Capt Basil Brush 24th Apr 2007 04:57

I think you will find VB using Alliance on PER - BME a tempory arrangement until VB get their sh!t together regarding crewing issues. With the majority (except the usual few) of crew refusing to work on days off until the EBA is sorted out, they are cancelling/combining/redirecting flights left, right and centre.

Bloggs, perhaps VB are chartering out flights in the West because ALL the action is "OVER EAST". (as you guys like to say).

717's have almost been retired from over East! Too old to hack the pace.(except for a certain contract company with a few in CS, who have to beef up the engines to carry a decent load) :)

Could take a while at the current rate that they are trying to resolve the crewing issues.

The company put forward a new EBA proposal to the AFAP before Easter and here we are 3 weeks later and not one single pilot has seen what is contained in the document!

Alliance are only operating one round trip at the moment, on May 30

I was thinking the same as you "piston broke again!" :ok:

Skywest has taken over my brother and his girlfriends flight in may. Thats what they've been told so far anyway (and they havn't been told much!)
