AM stations over the Pacific
 

Does anyone have/know of any lists of AM music stations that can used whilst flying over the pacific?

Try 1500 (Hawaii based). Very powerful transmission resulting in long range, especially at night. Don't expect Led Zepp, Black Sabbath etc - very mellow music that sends you to sleep.

Hawaii 650 also good, and 612 Brissy is also strong in the morning.

KUMU, 1500AM in HNL has been mainly talk back for a long time now. BNE 4KQ 693AM works for quite a distance, as does YSCH ??? 963AM. Ya gotta love it, how lisdexia is catered for here!! :D

The only real listening is Radio Oz on HF and even that degenerates into talk back in the early morning hours, but at least you get the news on the hour.

You could try Radio Kiribati on AM frequency 846. Country is UTC +12 and station hours are roughly 0630 to 2030 local. Mixture of local island music, BBC news and Radio Australia. Range around 400nm.

Local language mostly spoken with brief English local news translations. For reasons beyond me they tend to play lots of ABBA music. Various advertisments for Lipton Tea, corned beef and rice are spoken in the local lingo.

Once tuned and within range the ADF needle became rigid based on the signal strength. As mentioned above, it was around 400nm. Majuro would also have radio there and perhaps a Google would find it.

Honolulu rock is 720... Also try 570 and 590. If you do a search there is actually a website listing all AM stations out of Hawaii.

FYI if you are heading towards Europe
891 is Amsterdam Rock with 873 being The Eagle (Frankfurt) also relayed on 1143 down near Heidelberg.

If anyone has any other frequencies over Asia/ Europe please add them here. Only so much radio australia one can listen to!!

b) the 400 doesn't have those twisty knobs to find stations like other a/c, its all done by pushing buttons.

Scroll down for the Short Wave. Frequencies found there. ERSA would have a list too, and from memory NZ had the South Pacific Flight Guide which used to have radio frequencies listed. Readers familiar with NZ may be able to confirm this.

In Oz, 774 and 747 are ABC and good on weekends. You can catch a game/live broadcast usually.
Oz/Pacific pick frequency numbers that add up to 9 or are multiples of.
