737-300 jobs in PER and BNE - Airwork NZ??

Airwork New Zealand are advertising for type rating 737-300 drivers for BNE and PER basings. Immediate start!

Anyone know who they are tied in with? Obviously a wetlease to someone.

Job listed on seek.com.au and Fridays Australian!

sinala1 26th Jan 2007 09:10

Are ozjet keeping up with charter demand? Or Alliance, for that matter? Could be a wetlease to either of the above...

galdian 26th Jan 2007 11:29

With any luck it will be asociated with the 737 freighter conversions that seem to be going less to plan bearing in mind the impressive (  ) array of management talent, the tie in being maybe they got too few takers for their AWA's and wil now have to pay a premium for a contract company to provide pilots.
Would tie in to that wonderful (now confirmed to me) story of Pornstar International being rather pleased they'd found 8 Captains from the sandpit to help get the show up and running.
Only problem was they had signed no contracts, arrived and as a group decided the previously (verbal) T&C were unacceptable, stuck together and ended up on around $220,000+ per year.
Now where exactly is that little cost blowout going to show up in the Pornstar International accounts??
I'm sure GD and AJ have come to an agreement regarding how to hide it/cover it up - sure as hell wont involve their multi-million dollars in graft coming their way should the sale go through.
Count me stupid - they get paid a salary(plus extras) to do their job yet are in line for $100,000,000.00 bonus for doing ...what??

haughtney1 26th Jan 2007 18:23

Interesting they are advertising for Oz ATPL holders.........I didnt know Airwork had an Oz Air operators certificate.
No hours requirement either, just says experience on type.

Must be gonna pay peanuts:E (dons ma hard hat)

Serves you right

Teaches all you Buggers from working for a Pro-labour pro-pilot management company,if this culture has or does still exist.......Please advise??????

skywest_xr 26th Jan 2007 21:20

Are you sure they are the freighters? Last I heard that 737-300Fs wernt coming to Perth because they couldnt fly to the eastern states non-stop. Where is the viability? I still suspect something else.

A1BUGSMASHER 27th Jan 2007 00:25

The Airwork 737-300's are wet leased to TOLL I'm guessing, going head to head with the AAE 737-300. I also believe their NZ AOC will cover them for the operations in AUS.

There is alot of viability in freight..... And a lot less hassels compared to the Self Loading Freight!

Galdian, mate that is utter crap that you have unfortunately been told. They did sign contracts for $147,000 and have been well and truely shafted with lifestyles. The rumour going around of $220,000, is just that, a rumour. I do believe that 3 of the lads that went over there are having interviews with another carrier in the next two weeks. One has already resigned and cleared off back to EK. That will be four in a matter of months from starting up. Apparently CASA are having a very close look at that outfit and if any more of the EK boys resign, they are going to pull their International AOC as the experience level is no longer there that the AOC is based on.

skywest_xr 27th Jan 2007 04:35

I know there is plenty of viability in freight. I meant in operating an aircraft that needs to tech stop in Adelaide.

TOLL you say, interesting.

More apron space required at the airport.

A1BUGSMASHER 27th Jan 2007 07:37

XR, the 737-300 can do Perth - Melbourne direct..... I think it the F100 that needs the adelaide tech stop in order to carry a decent load.

Plans have already been made for the aircraft at Perth, TOLL has been working on there own freight options for some months now. The aircraft will go head to head with the 737-300 freighters operated by AAE.

galdian 27th Jan 2007 08:03

And so the question is raised - what will TOLL (Airwork, whomever) allow pilots (in this instance Captains) to be paid for the privilege of flying clapped out 73's, back of the clock, screwing their future health and compromising any concept of a "normal" (please read "sustainable", for pilots) lifestyle??
Last I heard the rate from AAE was around $120,000 gross - but increadibly happy to be corrected if too low (increadibly pissed off if too high :* :* )
OR (he wonders) have AAE and TOLL maybe had a meeting at the Brekky Creek to "standardise" any offers??? (just a thought.)

and F/O's - imagine: (management-type, arm slung around youngsters shoulder he says "you have a Cessna 172 endorsement - SON, have WE got a DEAL for YOU!!!)

I sometimes disappoint myself - so young yet so cynical :) :)

They do have an Australian AOC

The owner of Airwork is one of the owners of Alliance so if they want/need an Australian AOC, they've got one. However I believe under the Trans-Tasmain agreement they can operate under their NZ AOC.
With the B737 operation and with addtional F100's on the way, the Airwork/Alliance group is on it's way to being a rather large operation.

downwind 8th Feb 2007 21:17

Guys,

Has anyone heard anymore news about where Airwork are getting these -300's? and how many are they getting? It is not there old ex AN -300 in NZ is it???

Is this a Toll or Virgin Blue freight operation?

Any further info about the start would be good

DW.

ringbinder 2nd Apr 2007 10:51

Word over this side of the pond is that Airwork have encountered problems with their negotiations to secure access to an Australian AOC. Were they negotiating with their "cousin" Alliance given the financial interest in both by one individual. It seems odd that Alliance wouldn't assist them in their aspirations to get the freight run up and operating.
So, where does that leave the 733 operation? Isn't the start up date meant to be in May? And where are the a/c? And what does Toll think of an impending delay to their ops???

OhForSure 2nd Apr 2007 12:15

Toll bigwigs had stated that the aircraft would be in the air by April! Apparently they will be "TOLL" aircraft not DJ. One to be based in PER, the other in BNE. I have no idea where the aircraft are coming from, but I was under the assumption that a NZ AOC would suffice(???). Anyone care to elaborate?

apacau 4th Apr 2007 05:42

Anyone heard about ATR72 or BAe ATP freighters also involved (SYD curfew-busting?)??

Skystar320 4th Apr 2007 08:13

Nah didn't heard that rumour but i heard that they were looking at AN-12's

palau 10th Apr 2007 21:15

I was lead to beleive that this operation was to start on 1 April. Its now mid April and still no sign of progress.
Does anyone know if/when this freight operation wil now kick off?.

Casper 10th Apr 2007 21:35

Heard a rumour that this will be a freighter operation and will be conducted on the AOC of an Australian operator of B737-300 currently flying pax to Pacific islands? And, yes, the 300 is quite capable of PER - MEL direct.

galdian 10th Apr 2007 22:38

More importantly the 73-3 can do ML-PH with a full load at virtually any time of the year, like all aircraft when PH has its fog nights/mornings can get a lot more problamatic.

Probably not a consideration due noise but SY-PH would at times keep the crew well awake doing re-calculations.

And all for $120,000 (Kiwi??) in the middle of the night!
Lucky buggers! :E
