A320 and A330

I don't know if this is the same one but someone else is chasing up A320 and A330 LAMEs. Same deal, send us your info but we'll tell you nothing about us. Rumour has it that the person behind it is somewhere in the Tamworth region and he set up a contract company after leaving a senior management role in Qantas Link (that's if he ever really left) upon the start up of Jetstar. He is also said to be pretty chummy with J* gingerbeer bosses as they strive to screw their contractors even more. Could also be Q argey bargey in the lead up to J* Engineering EBA negotiations in 07.

Could Bruce D!@#:$ be making a comeback and decided to play opposition? := := :=

Rang the number and spoke to one of the guys mentioned.

Without asking me what coverage I had he was quick to say there was training involved.

It's all stealth and can't tell me who the employer is. He asked for application and he will know more, and reveal whats behind the curtain, in Jan 2007.

He did, in a way, say BNE/SYD/MEL.

I declined and explained that alot of agencies falsely advertise to merely get names on their database.

When he/they can be open, then so will I.

Who knows??!!!:*

INCOGNIT0 27th Feb 2007 10:38

Rumour has it it was Lufthansa Technik looking to do their 744 'C' checks in SYD but it seems to have been scuttled by Q wanting too much for lease of the hangar and not enough engineers to do the checks....shame as I know they have had enough of TAECO and the Flippos destroying their ships

LME-400 27th Feb 2007 10:59

My experience is that Q management does its best to scuttle 3rd party work.

Given that any additional heavy maintenance work (A330, B787 and A380)* is tied to the successful creation of a globally competitive MRO operation then one has to wonder.

The email was only sent out in response to harassment from the career transition company DBM( Dont Bother Monday) looking for positions for the last sydney heavy Maintenance engineers.
Embarrassed the slack pr!ck into emailing people.

I did hear the project was to overhaul the qantas 747-300 fleet to give them a extra 5 year of life. but qantas will now get A330's and sell the 747-300s so no need for the project.

Cool banana 5th Mar 2007 02:59

Sell the B747-300 they couldnt give them away will be like the 200 and SP heading of to the states to be broken up.

Just have to wait see if there will be a change of heart if APA takes over QF regarding Heavy Maintenace and third party of work.

Can someone please confirm this for me. This is not John Holland is it??

numbskull 30th Mar 2007 11:30

Don't know who was behind it but they initially said that they wanted LAMES for all ports in Australia/New Zealand.

I guess it doesn't really matter now as I was recently notified that "this program has recently been postponed indefinitely".

QF MAINT OUTSOURCED 30th Mar 2007 23:22

could have something to do with the fact that they only got about 50 CV's,not to many LAME's out there willing to return to QANTAS after the poor treatment

chockchucker 30th Mar 2007 23:42

Think you'll find that there isn't a whole lot of LAME'S sitting on a shelf someplace just waiting for work. With the disgraceful lack of training that has taken place (i.e. apprentice training by Virgin and Jetstar) since the demise of Ansett, the LAME pool is fast drying up.
