Some would argue that the 'true' Australian Airlines closed shop around 1992/1993...............

Too true Boocs..........ah now, back when I was a Flight Engineer with TAA.............

What will happen at Cairns?

newsensation 30th Jun 2006 21:29

Actually Australian Airlines still exists as a leasing company... it supplies pilots to Mainline at a cheaper rate...

Farewell Australian Airlines :uhoh: Wish they'd close that revolting Death/Boganstar brand instead!

king oath 1st Jul 2006 03:46

Australian Airlines (Mk 2) you did it well. All of you I ever experienced were professional and friendly. It had a genuine Aussie feel to it. Pity the parent company couldn't match the friendly service in the cabin.

Talk about Beancounter ****e. Just dubious accounting from a company leasing its own aircraft and people back to itself. A scenario out of Yes Minister (the civil service) if I've ever seen one.

Farewell to a good Airline

I agree, each time i flew on Australian Airlines the staff were always friendly and courteous and helpful, nothing seemed a bother when asked a question. It is a shame the rest of QANTAS could not get there act together, i am sure some of their staff could have learnt a thing or two!!

What happens to the cabin crew now, will the all end up in J*I ?

lead_struggler 1st Jul 2006 07:03

UR2,

The crew at AO all have their jobs. AO is now a wet leasing company for QF operating all QF Intl flights out of Cairns... pretty much doing the exact same thing just everyone is now wearing a QF uniform (tech and cabin crew) with a few changes to their network (i.e. NRT, SYD and BNE overnights, but no more HKG etc)

I believe some of the pilots are trying to get back to Sydney or Melbourne bases. And have also heard that a small number of cabin crew wishing to get back to colder climates have bid to go to Bogan* International

Looking forward to my next flight on AO!!!:) Hopefully soon!

Fantastic Airline, Fantastic Crew

We had a blast !

And we will continue to do so as QF.

Watch out for the AO crew on QF flights - you will know it is us when your boarding card says ´operated by australian ´

Sistema 2nd Jul 2006 10:46

You will know its us from the moment you step on the aircraft! Smiles and all the good Aussie Huumour.. :p
