EA & SS Joining Hands?

Rumour!!! Fresh Goss!!! How true is it that an announcement has just been made about Eastern and Sunstate becoming one?

TopperHarley 7th Jun 2006 00:57

MD has just had CASA approval to at as chief pilot of both the EAA and SSA AOC's.

Managment have been shared/merged for a while now. EAA tech people have been very heavily involved in the introduction of the -400.

There has been an SOP alignment process going on for a about 12 months. A common EP's manual was issued last year.

Engineering are cooperating and EAA engineers are being -400 trained on regular stints up north.

EAA op's people will be overseeing the operation of the SSA SY-CBR flying.

EAA staff will be providing load control for SSA SY-CBR flights.

EAA ground staff will be providing support on SY turn arounds.

EAA crew and flight planning room will be used on SY turn arounds.

It seems the crew are the only ones yet to hold hands.

Time to smoke the peace pipe boys ? (but not before a ground training day)

This move was a blatantly obvious "next step" after Southern was shafted by the Coward Street elite.

Mind you they have for some odd reason, waited a further 3 years to do so.

tipsy:=

Excuse me if I am missing some thing obvious, is there a problem with combining EA and SS. I would have thought, apart from the pilot issues it would have made a lot of sense to do it ages ago?

Joining hands? Not without condoms and lubricant:=

come together

From the little i know most of the pilots in both SS and E are in favor of a joint list but the company still has that dinosaur Old Meadow who would be out of a job if the two camps came together....

""From the little i know most of the pilots in both SS and E are in favor of a joint list""

Little you do know.

Have a look at the poll on Qrewroom. I think you can deduct that the crew at SS are against a merger, particularly if there is no base/command protection for the crew to get commands on Q400 in BNE.

newsensation 8th Jun 2006 23:48

Hi Speedy,
Crewroom whats that?
I do believe talks have already started on a Y type list with all the protection for existing bases etc in both SS and EA, so don't panic you will probably get your command on the Q400 well in advance of those who have been in EA for over 15 years....:)

Hugh Jarse 9th Jun 2006 00:34

I'd be reluctant to put too much credence in the Qrewroom poll. Only 62 out of what...300+(?) have voted, and not all crew have/do access that forum. Also, with the migration of Qrewroom to new software, the poll appears to have been corrupted. Only one poll question can be viewed. That is "Who do you work for?"

Personally, I'm not really worried about any merger. The reality is that both groups will want to look after their existing bases and promotional expectations. That's just commonsense. My prediction is a common seniority list with base protections for several years.

The only fly in the ointment I can see is if the 2 pilot groups remain segregated and on seperate EBA's. We all know the advantage the company gains with that one:yuk:

My other prediction is that someone will get on here and start scaremongering. Oh well, it is a rumour network after all:}

Hugh,

You naughty boy! You are becoming as cynical as I am - almost.

Hugh Jarse 9th Jun 2006 06:14

Trojan, I've had over 7 months practice. I found a self-study course on the Qantas College website "Macrame For Beginners - Weave Your Way to Cynicism Success".

I believe it's a special course for regional pilots.

Damn! - I just said "believe". Now I'm starting to sound like your old boss:oh: Better get back to work soon.....

I also downloaded detailed plans for a bull**** detector;), but found that there's so much of it falling from the ceiling that I'd wait for the "truth" version to come out. Perhaps if I reverse the polarity it'll work? No, I'll just go buy an umbrella:ugh: :}

Sue Ridgepipe 9th Jun 2006 06:29

Hey Jarse, you really do need to get back to work!!

newsensation 9th Jun 2006 22:04

Jarse,
It would appear you are respected by both SS and EA pilots so i would like to suggest you take charge of the setting up and implementation of the Y seniority list ..... now i am sure you will have no time for the Macrame...;)

Hugh Jarse 9th Jun 2006 22:25

Newsensation. Thanks for the good thoughts. Y'all got my email. Send it off and I'll take a look at it/ start some work on it...I still have quite a bit of time to go in the 'hangar'. It appears Titanium can give you arthritis:eek: So the engineers are going to remove the main spar and check for corrosion:} He reckons they have these special grease nipples they can fit.

Did somebody say NIPPLES?:oh:

I found Macrame too complex, so I've decided to sell Tupperware instead. I'm introducing a new line of Tupperware Undies, just for pilots.

They're not very comfortable, but they keep what you've got fresh, especially on those hot days with no APU.:E

TROJAN764 10th Jun 2006 09:29

"TUPPERWARE UNDIES" EH! Are they better than the Teflon ones so many in this industry have been wearing for years?
