Jimmy Bow-Tie returns to QF as a Director eff 1 July '06

Accelerating towards a precipice?
In today's SMH:
Former Qantas chief executive James Strong has been appointed a non-executive director of the airline. Qantas chairman Margaret Jackson said Mr Strong, who is currently chairman of both Woolworths Ltd and Insurance Australia Group Ltd, will take up the position from July 1, filling a casual vacancy on the board. "It is now more than five years since James retired from Qantas as CEO and I am thrilled that he has agreed to join the board as a director," Ms Jackson said. She said Mr Strong's depth of knowledge in the aviation industry and extensive business and board experience would be invaluable to the company. Mr Strong headed up Qantas for eight years from 1993 to 2001  :{ |
Who is Jimmy Bow Tie?
|
|
At least the guy knew how to relate to staff and get the best out of people.
He was always available for a chat around the network when he was GM, asked for information and appeared to listen. Maybe he could teach the current GM how its done. But don't hold your breath. |
Jimmy call me James was very good at maintaining the share price via reinforcing the brand not erroding it.
Lets hope he can get the shares back up to $4 so we can all dump them..... |
............let's just hope those profits stay up and we get more of those fully franked special dividends ! :ok:
|
At least now Qantas has someone on the board who actually might know a little bit about the industry
|
The great pretender is back. Aircraft purchases will cease. Everyone will be doing spirit courses. Should be linked to the pigs in the trough thread. :bored:
|
Am not a Qantas shareholder or employee. But both groups should feel very confident that he will bring to their fortunes the same level of value added that his track record shows elsewhere and in QF's previous history. In the industrial relations area alone at this sensitive time his bright and reformist outlook should leave employees in no doubt that their futures are a matter of great concern to the board. My own career has never quite been the same since experiencing his management style and ethic.

Not forgetting his slogan: "People are our priority":ugh: :yuk: :yuk: :yuk:

The more things change the more they stay the same.......
I guess now Dixon can't blame the previous board for lack of decision making.....:E It springs to mind...somewhere a villiage is missing another idiot:E |
