Jet Star International's new chief pilot

Can anyone out there add any info to the rumour doing the rounds at work that "Slick Coldoff" initials RH is to be made chief pilot of said organisation.
As a wag at the bar was loudly overheard saying ,"it wouldn't be for services rendered ,would it?"

ur2 22nd Apr 2006 02:59

NOT TRUE. Sorry to put pay to your rumour.

UNOME 22nd Apr 2006 03:01

:} sooooo UR2.... the winner is??

captain_cranky 22nd Apr 2006 04:06

max, heard the same.
From CAO 82 Approval of Chief Pilot
The appointment may be approved only if the person has:
(a) in the opinion of CASA, maintained a satisfactory record in the conduct or
management of flying operations;

Note - in the opinion of CASA, not the opinion of the pilot group so keep your muzzles on lads.
Have confidence in your regulator that the opinion will be based on a thorough review of past appointments and 'fulsome' auditing.:E

UNOME 22nd Apr 2006 04:47

I believe it was more towards the West...(East-West):E

ur2 22nd Apr 2006 07:44

Actually it is an ex QF SO on an MOU,

Weapons_Hot 22nd Apr 2006 16:16

The rumor mill tells me that he is an ex-Ansett WA, ex-AN, ex-EVA and soon to be ex-Jet* (SQ based) to take up the position in MEL.

NO names no pack drill please. Woomera

faheel 22nd Apr 2006 22:50

captain_cranky 23rd Apr 2006 00:31

The rumor mill tells me that he is an ex-Ansett WA, ex-AN, ex-EVA and soon to be ex-Jet* (SQ based) to take up the position in MEL. Probably will answer to the name of "Chris"
A name! A name!
STONE HIM:E

Higs 23rd Apr 2006 03:24

Jet* international will be better for having him there. Thats for sure.
It would be hard to find a better person for the position. Some of them no doubt, dont deserve such a nice bloke! Good luck to him and well done...:ok:

rescue 1 23rd Apr 2006 05:03

But its not a separate AOC, so I assume that the person being discussed is simply heading up the A330 fleet???

Or is there more to this rumour?

Chimbu chuckles 23rd Apr 2006 05:45

Good grief faheel....I theorised about that possibility with a mate at EK when I heard he'd pull the pin...doesn't take long from theory to rumour:}

ur2 23rd Apr 2006 07:03

Sorry to again dispell your rumours, but yes, he will be there but not the big job, (No such thing as a Chief Pilot in High Capacity Airline ops any more.)
As I said the MLO J* Int is an ex QF SO on an MOU.

faheel 23rd Apr 2006 10:09

Ahhh chuckles I am only stoking the fire mate cos I am bored ;)

Lagrange 24th Apr 2006 00:16

JQ is in very serious trouble. The management team is in group think blaming staff for their own lack of capability, ethics and talent. They are true B graders.

For the first time, Al is about to be confronted by a team with serious talent. Have a look at the team Godfrey has put together to introduce his international operation.

The excellent morale that pervaded JQ pre Christmas is gone. The company is in disarray. There is little trust in management. Everyone in the office in Melbourne is looking sideways waiting to get blamed for today's problem or failure of the managers.

QF will have to insert serious operational experience at a senior level by mid year if the JQ International operation is to get off the ground anywhere near the proposed date.

For the time being they are just lucky that the acting CASA chief in Melbourne is a very good mate of AJ's new "brain" - his head of safety. Funny, not many other people in the industry have the confidence in the "brain" that AJ has!! OR is he to be the scapegoat again? :ok:

hotnhigh 24th Apr 2006 00:34

And what happened to the recently planned LOSA audit???????

Eagleman 24th Apr 2006 03:09

LOSA audit?

Remember the then Head of Flying Operations lost his job after the last JQ audit. And where is that HFO now? I think he is the "brain" that lagrange is talking about. The JQ operation was Hazelton in drag.

There will be no audit. AJ couldn't handle having to removed his man yet again.

Actually "drain" would have been a better word lagrange!

Higs 24th Apr 2006 03:17

I'm sorry but didn't QF place someone with "significant operational experience" in Jet* a while ago??
Yeh he certainally made the place better off... after he left that is

ur2 24th Apr 2006 05:15

Whoa I must be working for a different airline,
where does all that sh1t come from.

And Then 24th Apr 2006 05:28

Hey champ. Could you explain why your outfit is advertising in the Hong Kong papers for Airbus wide and narrow body Captains and First Officers? I thought you said there were many, many Dragonair applicants already. Whence competing against thousand dollar a day HK packages. CX home basings already available. They must be testing the water to see if they can shaft Jetstar pilots further.
