F100's to service BME-KNX
Skywest are planning to fly BME-KNX from May 1 using F100. The service will run two days per week and extend off the PER-BME sector.
Interesting this, as apparently Air North were not impressed, this as they currently enjoy sole ops status on the route, one of the most profitable left. Will be interesting to see if this is expanded to more days per week or year round as initially it appears XR's move is dry season only. Good news for BME/KNX locals who presently have to put up with TL as the only link between the two towns. |
So how is Skywest traveling in general?
I have read their 2005 financial report - 1mil profit (before tax) on revenue of 73mil. Not exactly a great return on investment. They seem to just tick along, but I always wonder what the long term prospects are. WA is tough territory for any airline - long thin routes in the majority of cases. The fleet will need replacement one day - will they be in any shape to fund a new fleet? I hear they are interviewing this week. |

sort of like of the old AN days .. BME_KNX_DRW, I did manage to catch a lot of sleep on the 28's between PER and DRW all those years ago :) ... or am I getting a bit ahead of myself there? Could be a good thing for the topenders .. another way out that isn't a one star ...
