Are JET* 717's here to stay

Is it true that a 717 simulator is being built in Australia.
Does this mean that when jet* is finished with the jets they will be handed over to NJS to replace the BA 146?

TopperHarley 9th Jul 2004 07:38

You no gateway customer...... You Wongai customer

Yorik Hunt 9th Jul 2004 07:51

Probably depends on how mant Jetscab crash really, doesn't it?

Gateway Customer 9th Jul 2004 08:42

It would seem that this is the case.
All you NJS drivers will in time be updated to the 717's
Happy days are here again...... well for some people

pullock 9th Jul 2004 16:30

That's right - NJS ppls you are getting a new and very nice toy............

apacau 10th Jul 2004 01:55

How would the 717s perform on NJS regional WA routes? Or is it to restart East-coast services currently operated by 737s (BNE-CBR etc)?

Mr Wright 11th Jul 2004 08:01

A320 sim is to be positioned beside VB and Alteon 737 sims in Alteon sim centre in BN in the next six months. :O

Obie 11th Jul 2004 09:45

...and perhaps earlier than that!

pullock 11th Jul 2004 11:33

Rperformance wise I am sure that just about anything can do what the quadrapuff does!!

The 717 will be a fine replacement for them and a much nicer bird all round.

easternboy 11th Jul 2004 12:02

I dont know about the pilots but I know for a fact that Qantas and Eastern management have started discussions with the FAAA Domestic/Regional division about Eastern flight attendants operating the 717. This development happened in the last week.

air-hag 11th Jul 2004 15:31

The NJS slugs better get their act together before they get their grubby paws on the new machines. The crusty old farts been on the puff-jet way too long... since they quit their last jobs.

From what I've seen, between bitterness and lack of stimulation, their airmansip has suffered. Still at least they're stuck out west where their puerile antics can't hurt anyone. They're not even noticed by the mainstream jet-world, except at Perth where they have to behave. The MBZs are a different story.

717s.... Give 'em to Eastern, those flogs have been strutting around like they're jet pilots for years so they're already half-way qualified.

ITCZ 11th Jul 2004 23:59

meee-ow!

bet you're now making lots of friends in knoteetingham too, air-hag.... your scintillating personality would be a must at any dinner party!

Buster Hyman 12th Jul 2004 00:38

Surely there's a limit to the amount of times an airframe can be painted?

Capn Bloggs 12th Jul 2004 06:55

Buster,
Yes there is. It's when the increasing OEW equals the max ZFW!

hoss 12th Jul 2004 09:01

The 'Eastern thing' has credibility but Flight Attendents? I heard they're going to turn them into freighters!

Buster Hyman 12th Jul 2004 10:52

Ahh Capn...and then they tow them to the other end of the field for the firies to train on? Now I've got it!:ok:

alidad 12th Jul 2004 10:55

Rumour has it that with discrimination legislation mainline is unable to retrench cabin crew who have "past their use by date'.
B717 freighters masy be required to transport the "blossomed beauties' to the destination.......

I know they could call it DRAGONAIR.... drats, someone has already got the name.

cunninglinguist 14th Jul 2004 09:02

Hoss, they're going to turn FAs into freighters:confused:
