Another one bites the dust...

Horizon Airlines has officially gone into receivership as of today.

Chocks Away 14th Oct 2003 09:13

...with such promise... what went wrong?

hoss 14th Oct 2003 10:11

What the ....................,but how?

Best wishes to those involved, hopefully something better will come from this. hoss:ok:

23 Metros In a Row 14th Oct 2003 10:19

bugga.

Another 4 metro's to join the row.

Never a good thing for Australian aviation.

Doesn't mean they have shut down tho. Any public statement in relation to continued ops? Maybe the two Marks are involved?!#

Lusimtingting 14th Oct 2003 11:52

Think it might be voluntary administration and they may try to trade out of the problem

Rich-Fine-Green 14th Oct 2003 13:10

I guess this also affects their Aero Pelican ops too.

Sad to see, good luck to all the staff & management.

Winchester 14th Oct 2003 13:48

Aero Quack is owned by IAP International Air Parts. IAP “Steve Ferris” sold Horizon, to a Sydney Publican some months ago. The deal was encouraged by the GM, Mr Trevor Douglas, for the people in the know “Bickies JNR”. Mr Douglas’ dream of running an airline that was owned by a pub had finally come true. But as we all know pubs make money, airlines don’t. Horizon was a solid company, with very piss poor leadership from the top “yes that’s you *****. ***** you have single handedly Fu**ed it for over 120 boys and girls. “Well done” Best of luck to all, lets hope the hard workers at Horizon are swallowed up by something bigger and better.

This is very sad news indeed.

Will the team of geriatrics off the 748 be assisted to a palliative care unit?:}

Torres 14th Oct 2003 15:20

Did IAP sell Horizon around August or September 2002? I assume that was only the HS748 and Metro operation, and not the Aero Pelican Twin Otter operation?

Which did Bikkies Jnr manage? Horizon, not Aero Pelican?

Must try harder.

bitter balance 14th Oct 2003 21:32

If the company was strong why did IAP sell it?

23 Metros In a Row 14th Oct 2003 22:39

Why did IAP sell it?

As I posted before, Taree, Cooma and Grafton. The graveyards of NSW RPT.

All a bit like a B grade horror movie really. The victim knew they would die if they went into the dark room with an knife carrying murderer in there, but they went in anyway. Just like the next victim, and there will be one.

On Track 15th Oct 2003 06:48

I understand it is VOLUNTARY administration - whatever that means.

Poto 15th Oct 2003 10:46

Didn't Flight West go into Voluntary Administration?

phuqmeded 15th Oct 2003 11:06

I understand Ansett also went into voluntary administration.

On Track 15th Oct 2003 14:50

Mmm, well in that case I guess voluntary administration is not good.

Turbiney 16th Oct 2003 20:53

Then Horizon Airlines was bought by a short bald c**t who said he'd "write a cheque", but was not wealthy, or tall enough, to own an airline. All words said to make him feel taller than what he was.

Have another beer - on Robert Halpin - the publican. We could also refer to this as a "pub with no beer" - named the Horizon lounge for frequent flyers, or "suckers" should I say. :yuk:

I feel sorry for the families involved with the company that will now suffer at the hand of this man with a syndrome. Oh, and a best mate, who was his best pub customer, named Bikkies Jnr. How successfully they both destroyed a company that may have had a future.

HORIZON MANAGEMENT

The CEO and Qa Manager were dismissed due to creative accounting, documented inside their heads. The current general manager who happens to be an alcoholic met the republican who now finances Horizon, in one of his pubs .The general Manager thanks to nepotism keeps his simpleton brother employed as a head engineering manager. What a circus!
The workers who keep this Airline running need some forward direction. Well done the new republican for bringing in the administrators, hope it catches out the drunken clown!

Please substitute the word Publican with the word republican in my last post.

..... listen up laddie anymore of that stuff and you will be banned ... Woomera

Turbiney 17th Oct 2003 09:04

CEO & QA Manager - creative accounting?

I don't think the CEO and QA Manager were dismissed. In fact, a close source tells me they walked out because the place was a complete circus.

I think the creative accounting was done at the pub. Cash going missing and alcoholic drunks screaming at pilots "to fly that f**ing aeroplane regardless".

Bikies Jnr ?

Why is his nickname Bikies jnr?
