Qantas flies to Anchorage
On 29/8 VH-ZND flew Melbourne to Anchorage direct. On 30/8 it flew Anchorage Sydney direct arriving 1/9.
Any ideas why? As a freighter? Part of project sunrise?

We have been flying lots of charters to all sorts of places during COVID.
What Chimbu Warrior alluded to. There was a Qantas flight a couple of weeks back.
Williamtown-Brisbane-Anchorage. A Defence Force charter.
The aircraft returned via Los Angeles.

A DC-4 doesn’t carry enough oil to get that far let alone avgas/coffee/etc. So no, it was from elsewhere in the region. But no matter, I was just having a go at old mate. I am also happy to compare notes about Greenland, Iceland and outer space if asked…
