New Startup Airline Seeks Funds By Crowd Sourcing
Back in the 1990s, some idiot was trying to set up his own airline. He was 30 years old with zero experience and his correspondence didn’t even have a proper letterhead. The plan was B727s on the BNE/SYD/MEL golden triangle. “CITY EXPRESS” was the name if anyone remembers the advert for crew in Friday’s Australian.
No AOC application had even been made but he anticipated having all approvals in a couple of months. Please send $500 along with your resume to be considered.
He ended up on “A Current Affair” with a CASA spokesman describing how long they took to process a new start up’s paperwork. Consumer Affairs got involved as well.

So, in a nutshell, investors are forking out to eventually send Brad to jail for the inevitable mismanagement, misrepresentation and misappropriation of their funds.
A fun game for sure.

What is it about aviation ?
I’ve been in the game 40 years and it is just gob smacking how the same BS goes round and round at regular intervals.
And a new bunch of bunnies do their retirement funds.
And end up crying on prime time TV.
Spare me.

It's like the early days of the world-wide-web but with aeroplanes.
Back then when creating global web sites became easy many people would set up a web site with "Send me $1". Although nobody got rich out of it, It did take quite a while for it to grow tired.
Crowd funding is good for speculative tech or hard done by cases, but I I still don't understand how it can be used to get something utterly uninteresting like an aeroplane off the ground, unless you've stranded your passengers and ask them to pay for the fuel to them get home.

Interesting to see a few have been separated from their money.......
- A$4,406.24 raised.
- 27 payments.
- A$2,900,000 Goal.

I rented him some premises about 10 years ago for his Fast Track Plot Training. I'm aware he is probably reading this and won't say more because I really don't want to have to deal with him again.
People selling the idea that there are short cuts, bargains and guarantees in aviation are nothing new and the dreamers fall for it and part with their cash, up front of course. We all know how that story ends. It's like groudhog day.

It seems “Brad” was also behind a mob called “Fast Track Pilot Training” at Jandakot almost 15 years back, offering to go from 0 hours to CPL in only 18 weeks.
Here’s the PPRuNe thread about it, it makes for some “interesting” reading....

Amazed to see Debbie Lawrie mentioned as part of "The Team", thought she wouldn't be dumb enough to grace such a proposal as this with her affirmation. They certainly have a slick web site though.
