Superman1:
I wouldn’t want to see VA move back to its LCC roots especially considering its investment in a half decent (not quite QF) premium product. I do however think JH is the right person to lead VA and put a rocket under the Village folk and the rest of the business who think it’s still AN days and you can get away with a big pay cheque in a heavily unionised environment with minimal flexibility or productivity.

Qantas has even seen the light of how unproductive some parts of their business is and taken steps to change eg: the big generational decision to outsource some airport staff. If VA don’t have a hard nosed leader like JH to cut hard and change the culture by weeding our the legacy elements of the business, VA will fail once again. (my bolding)
Unfortunately Superman, from bitter experience, I can positively assure you that the opposite will happen; the competent and hard working of the village folk will leave of their own accord if they haven't done so already. The remaining competent, hard working and experienced staff and managers, however few, will be singled out and fired very quickly. Virgin staff will then be surprised and demoralised to watch the most incompetent and unpleasant of the remaining village folk being promoted into more senior management positions.

To put it another way, the wrong bits are usually cut off and the least capable are retained and promoted.

I've watched this happen before. Those with marketable skills leave as soon as they can, the dross want to stay forever. The new senior management see existing competent and experienced managers as a threat, finds them and removes them. The only way for a smart person to stay employed in Virgin is to (a) hide their intelligence and skills, and (b) become a complete arse licker and sycophant until Bain disappears.

As for Mr. Scurrah, if the press reports are true, then he will be gone today or Friday. You always fire on Friday to give people a weekend to process whats happened. Only an idiot fires people on a Monday.

Bain don't care about the millions already spent. They will walk once they see the $$$$ drop out.
you spelled “billions” wrong

Very sad news if true. I fear this will not bode well for those remaining in the business or those who have/are departing. Concerned those who chose to remain on JK will be cut loose early and the outplacement programmes will be cut off for those that departed.

She will need to fill her management holes fairly quickly as everyone will need (or want to) to leave.

Gerry and David will no doubt make an appearance.

I don't think any of the 3000 people cut will shed a tear. He was full of Sh#&t like all before him. Again everyone thought he was the messiah and he gave a dishonest outlook that he knew was not true from the start. He won't care at all either, infact he will be paid out and laughing that he isn't attached anymore.
Will probably get a gig now at Deloitte as a thank you for the millions they got from the admin process.
Only thing I agree with is that the employees left are about to hurt. Contracts for pilot wouldn't surprise me at all.

Commiserations to the VA staff - this was predicted though as soon as Bain became involved.

Jetstar has a new direct competitor now. REX new venture won’t get to far off the ground now.

No doubt he'll get a nice little deal to keep his mouth shut.....reading the ASX statement if everyone thinks so highly of each other, why has he gone????.......As for the Village idiots who have survived so far, good luck in the game of hide and seek.

With PS out of the way, will Bain still be so keen to continue paying Branson to use the Virgin name? Maybe as part of restructuring the airline to a LCC they could rebrand, maybe to something like ‘Tigerair’? What’s old is new.

There is always a bright side - anyone left in the Village won’t have to put up with her constantly pontificating and listen to her endless espousing of diversity in the workplace as she is basically a part-time CEO and spends more time picking the kids up from school rather than managing the business.

The industry know her well and the bad blood between those who actually work and Management is only going to get worse. She is the second worst outcome or VA, other than having Joyce become CEO. Watch now as she brings in all her ex JQ acolytes and reintroduces team building activities such as building houses made from cards and drawing your favourite Superhero.

You know 12 months ago had someone written a short novel about the debacle that now is Virgin that person would have been locked up for Dreamin' up such fiction rubbish!
The three ringed circus continues!

We do indeed live in extraordinary times!

Predicted Jayne's rise to the top of Virgin back on May 1st this year right here on PPPuNe. The crystal ball was working well that day. I think I'll stay in hiding for a few more years.

the three ringed circus still plays on today, animals in the office, dog poo outside Elmer Fudd's table,

all while the business remains in admin and this is going down....
WP has to be the first thing to go. Why on earth do these hosties think their opinion matters? Seriously toxic culture.
