Aviation journalist

I ask respectfully about DJ's aviation on YouTube.
I understand fully his enthusiasm for aviation and I applaud it, but dear oh dear he is so incorrect so many times, and any young person wishing to be in aviation I applaud.
I remember Aviation journalist Paul Phelan so much, Paul wrote so many fantastic articles, but he researched his facts.
I wish the bloke from DJ's would do the same.

Please don’t give the guy free advertising. Everyone on this board wants his channel to die a quiet death, don’t click on his videos, don’t even mention him in passing to colleagues and most definitely don’t add any more posts to this one!

You mean the guy who repeats stuff from press releases and passes it off as his own info?

Accidentally stumbled across it once and almost threw my Mouse at the screen. Avoid it like the plague. The 'Explanes' guy is marginally better, but I generally stick to Simple Flying & Sam Chui. Just personal opinion of course.

Views & comments generate their numbers for revenue, so it's quite easy to avoid rewarding the clips you don't like.

Sam Chui and blanco liro are only youtube aviation channels worth a damn for acutal news.

If you want general aviation theres a few more you can add like Flight chops, Elliot Seguin, mikey from buffelo airways / icepilot did a series last year restoring a DC-3

Sam Chui for 'actual news'? Errr, he doesn't deliver any real 'news' via his YouTube videos, and his website stuff is mainly written by a bunch of kids who copy 'news' from other websites, same model as SimpleFlying although SF has gotten better in the past year.

We need another Ben Sandilands. Unfortunately the best we have is ‘the expert’ or the ex airline pilot.

Chui is only interested in self-promotion and YouTube revenue to fund his travel lifestyle/brand.

He does interesting flights, gets looks in side planes at airshows, i give you not really news as such but he does some intersting aviation videos. Blanco liro isn't really news either, theres no real news channels on youtube, if you want news goto airliners.net

Aren't they all? Good luck to them if they are. Fancy making money from an industry you love & enjoy....shameful.

John Spiers who wrote for the aviation section of The Australian. Only problem was most articles were cut and paste from press releases I thought..

If you can sit through a Chui video and not laugh once then I have great levels of respect for you.

Ben was a classic the sort of journo they had in the old days, although to be honest I got tired of his constant anti-QF anti-Joyce rants on Crikey's PlaneTalking blog. Steve Creedy when he was aviation editor at The Australian was great, although of course the mainstream media can't go off on a rant like a blogger can. Australian Aviation long ago lost the plot and for 'news' has become pretty useless. Patrick Hatch at The Age is decent although still has to write for a bit of a mainstream audience. The local sources I find which are great for news and who I follow on Twitter are Jamie Freed from Reuters at https://twitter.com/Jamie_Freed, Executive Traveller is on top of a lot of news although its not always 'aviation' as such, and, well, there's not really anybody else who's not behind a paywall these days but from what I've seen those paywall outlets are not worth subscribing to just for aviation news.

Not 'news' at all but yes, his videos show great access to things like delivery flights, good coverage at airshows etc. Hats off to him for turning his passion into a living!
