Amazing what we could 40 years ago.

I am in the area and would love to get some pics of its arrival and I have been advised it is scheduled to touchdown at 11:30.

But there is much confusion as to which day, thursday (tomorrow here) or Friday! Is it spending one day in LAX or two?
Scheduled 11:00am ex-LAX with an 11:30 arrival VCV Friday morning LAX time…..
If you get any decent shots there's a few here who wouldn't mind seeing 'em!

Anyone know what the 90 minute delay out of Sydney was about? ETD was originally 1400 local

Plenty of folks flew in to YSHL and were getting nervous about last light.

I am reliably informed that the waypoints for skippy were sorted out and refined in the sim. At least a full day I hear, then into the system for uplink.

I think the hangar celebrations went until 2pm.
It was then towed to a gate to be fuelled. That takes a bit of time.

Well done Qantas for the effort that went into this during what is possibly the worst time to farewell an iconic aircraft. Just to remind some of the younger viewers, at one time Qantas was a one type airline. Nowadays thats called the low cost model.

I grew up in a Boeing family. I saw the first flights of the 727, 737, 747, 757 and 767. I got to ride on a test flight of an SP that was destined for the Saudi government. We did stalls, very tight turns and all sorts of things I had never before (or since) experienced in any aircraft.
For some reason the mass retirement of the 747 makes me weepy.

Edit: It's just now circling before landing at Mohave according to Flightaware. I hope C441 knew it was going to Mohave.
Update: An era is over now.
