However, when demand returns to pre-COVID levels, the airline aims to have more than 75 Boeing 737s parked in its hangars.
Well, that doesn't sound very profitable!

Where are they going to put all these hangars?

Does not mean 58 will be flying, The longer the closure goes on the more the sharpening of the pencil is doing in the board rooms.

Yes I’m certainly awaiting that announcement at some point...

This would have been the perfect new thread starter:

VIRGIN 2.0 - boldly into the future...(or whatever similar uplifting sentiment suited).

The article claims VA have slashed services but didn’t the ATR mostly do the routes affected? SY-AY and PMQ MIA etc. Does not seem to be many 737 routes affected AYQ and Hervey Bay

Now that would be a route worth watching in an ATR

MEL-MQL was a middle day 737 turn.
Always thought that would’ve been better for business travellers and connection options if it was double daily ATR at better times. Wonder how many business seats were sold on the 737 there. Opportunities lost.

Withdrawal makes sense in the context QLink are replacing Q4 with Q3 on the route.

ex News.com: New Virgin flight deal to help beat border chaos.....

News.Com article link, here: https://www.news.com.au/travel/trave...7e44d952c02501

An extract (Bolding) :
In a new policy called the “Passenger Promise”, Virgin will allow flight changes for no additional fee – though fare difference costs may apply.

A Virgin Australia spokesman said the airline had made the move so passengers could consider Christmas holidays with more confidence.

“While there is still uncertainty around border restrictions, we know that Australians want to start booking their travel and our Passenger Promise will give travellers the peace of mind they need to make a booking now,” he said.

“We’re hopeful that borders will reopen by Christmas and this new initiative to help get travellers on their next flight is the right step forward to rebooting the Australian tourism industry.”

Quote here:
Virgin’s financial issues stem back to the airline’s large levels of debt prior to the shutdown, with more than $5 billion owing to creditors.

This “Passenger Promise” hoopla is simply a neat marketing tool aimed pretty specifically at pump-priming cash flow. It's simply book now and, most importantly, pay now and blah, blah, blah regarding changing your booking later but in the meantime we've got your money, thank you very much.

I see the 330s have moved up to the terminal at Avalon.

Leasing company I assume sending in its own Pilots to retrieve them? No shortage of 330 crews around the globe willing to do a few repositioning contract flights.

It's all contracted out. People run businesses that specialise in ferry flying and end of lease/repo return flights. Some US Airlines used to even contract out their own internal ferry flights to third parties because it was cheaper than flying their own crew!

One flew out of AVV yesterday, or was it the day before......honestly, if it wasn't for bin night, I'd have no idea of the day it is. That's life stuck in Chairman Dans eternal Groundhog Day.

If you're Bill Murray I assume that means that Chairman Dan's the groundhog?

Rather harsh on groundhogs IMHO!

Some of the A330's and B777's will go to Wellcamp briefly before being ferried elsewhere.
