Not sure if this link will work. Hopefully it will as I think it's a counterpoint to the current offerings.
I don't want those days back (they were amateurish) - they appear silly from where I look at what is the current (advertising driven) formula.
But as a fan and a spectator, I want some connection to what regular folks can drive.

It was actually the Armstrong 500 in November 1960, I was there and it was a great day. The link below gives a good summary. Some surprising placings in vehicles driven by future greats.
