Working conditions seem to vary depending whether you're East Coast based versus the Northern and Western bases with the latter probably a little cruisier.
Staff travel has been described as better than nothing.... ID90 on QF network and no priority.
New contract to be voted on shortly. The 'total package' is not too bad but the actual base salary is probably short of expectations.

Contractors with minimal job security on some of the lowest jet salaries in Australia flying major capital city routes in hicap jets on behalf of a legacy airline in a highly adversarial environment.

Or so I’m told.

Thanks all, I just found this thread: How low can you go? I guess we'll all know better when the new EBA is endorsed.

Yeah... offer is just above the line from friends reports... many many issues (base pay??) and well... still the cheapest jet pilots in Australia flying a ‘premium brand’. Hope the pilot “buyers market” wins out and they get a better offer

Guess the vote will decide

With QF mainline taking over all HBA-SYD services from early January until the end of March, how will the HBA 717 crew base operate given there will only be one 717 based in HBA and fewer 717 services? Will crew be based elsewhere, and presumably the QF mainline crews will be staying in hotels?

QF mainline replacing 717 with 737 on HBA-MEL

Commencing for northern summer, QF will replace the existing five daily 717s with four daily 737s on HBA-MEL. This results in some timing changes for the HBA-SYD 717 services. There will also be an extra weekly 737 on HBA-SYD.
I wonder where the 717 will be redeployed? HBA-CBR would be nice!

One would hope this uncertainty will keep the workers in line during the EBA negotiations.

Will QF mainline now open a crew base at HBA?

As for the Cobham crew base at HBA, QF mainline has been operating the HBA-SYD flights since the start of the year, so has a Cobham crew been permanently redeployed from HBA or is it just insufficient staff remaining?

The only reason that QF mainline is back to Hobart with force is because of the atrocious schedule integrity by the renovated DC-9 that has been doing it the last few years. The number of rescue flights mainline have been doing to rescue grounded Qlink jets has been at a horrendous level the last 6 months or so it’s a complete joke.

Yep about the same time QF took the maintenance back, But they have recognised their mistake and changed the way and who dos ‘some” of the maintenance

I would expect some degree of improvement in reliability.

The renovated DC9 has an admirable reliability record if maintained correctly. I am and will remain a critic of Cobham management, however the reliability of the 717 cannot be attributed to the 717 or Cobham; Hobart is a case where this is acutely so.

My long suffering friends down there have dealt with some extremely poor suppor from above. Hats off to them for sticking with it I say!

I hope QF don’t punish the crews based there by closing the 717 operation in Hobart, as it will be due to no fault of their own.
