First QF B787

The eight names chosen out of more than 60, 000 suggestions are: Great Barrier Reef, Boomerang, Skippy, Waltzing Matilda, Uluru, Great Southern Land, Quokka and Dreamtime.
Great name but I still don't understand why QF are making such a big deal over the 787. It has been operating for 6 years now, maybe longer? Hundreds flying around the world but somehow QF is trying to market this plane as a game changer even though they have been slowly cutting great routes over the years

Correct, delivery of MSN number 6xx, way behind the curve. The greatest screw-up over the last 10 years has been the Asian experiment, and the A380 before that from which the balance sheet is only just beginning to heal. The B787 is a balance sheet game changer for QF. Everyone else moved on years ago...

Just gettin it out there
The fanfare is a little bit embarrassing, I think the company Kool Aid bill must be astronomical! The fact that internationals low cost cousin has been operating the type for over 3 years and is even training all the intitial check captains seems to be lost in all the hooplah.
It's going to be interesting seeing a lone Qantas 787 at the Melbourne launch surrounded at the gate by Jetstar 787's...And ANZ , Brunei, United, Chinese Airlines, Air India....the list goes on.
I get the feeling some of us at the Q are suffering a little bit of Stockholm Syndrome!

To be sure Qantas PR are on the cool aid, but most Airlines do make a bit of a carry on when they get a new Aircraft type, no matter were they are on the delivery schedule.
Everyone else has waken up long time ago and they are still dreaming. I have a 1:200 scale model of a 787 painted in Qantas livery sitting on my desc for at least 5 years. I often wondered if it ever going to materialise. Guess what.....I bought it straight from Boeing website 5 years ago. Wake up Mr Joyce.....

Why do any of you give a crap? If QF want to market an aircraft, and the public buy the hype, why shouldn't they?
Actually, please don't answer. I don't care.

Anyone checked pavements limits for the B789? Currently 251100 for Perth and 238200 for Melbourne. MTOW B789 is 254011. Makes a very limiting sector even more so!
