He will sit there quietly until he sees both engines turning, then will expect a disconnect.
No he won't. He will tune out and not be listening to anything and still get run over. The only thing he needs to hear are the statements set out in SOPs. What the crew need to do however is ensure that someone has said "Clear to disconnect" and that someone has stated "Sighted with the pin" before any After Start checklists are completed and a clearance to taxi is requested.

Run the manual engine start procedure with INT on and I reckon there is a pretty high chance of a stuff up. Better to flick over to INT once the start is finished and before you run the After Start checklist, IMO.

Stally if I left the INT on during pushback in Asia, the guy downstairs would be so confused that it'd just end in one big f*** up! As Lookleft just said, he only needs to hear the standard calls.

Rather than create another unnecessary procedure, why don't people just follow the current ones.

Turin, except in my outfit it's SOP to wait for us to see you've removed the pin before we disconnect you.

It's been that way for a couple of years.
