Name the new Sydney airport
Now that Badgerys Creek looks finally to be on the go, I guess it's time to name it. We have Kingsford Smith International Airport at Mascot. So I'm looking at prominent, legendary, worthwhile, and thoroughly deserving Aussies to name this new airport in honour of. Some of the deserves I think...
Bronwyn Bishop international airport
Richard Wilkins international airport
Kochie International airport
Chock Mundine international airport
Kyrios Tomic international airport
Michael Slater international airport (probably an appropriate one considering airports are very annoying to most people and are rarely ever quiet)
That guy that won season 6 of Australian Idol international airport (what was his name again....I seem to have forgotten)
Wow, we are so blessed in this country to have so many deserving "heroes".

Suggested ground rules:
1. Not to be named after a politician.
2. Must be named after an Australian aviation identity.
There is a strong case for honouring Smithy but that would cause too much confusion. Suggestions:
Lawrence Hargrave
David Warren
P.G. Taylor

Typical Aussie Trivia: It has taken 50 year plus to get around to saying Yes we are going to build; it may be open with ONE runway sometime after 2020; will be ROAD ready BUT there is not going to be or plans for a bloody railway line.
God only knows what it will cost and how the projected cost will blow out particularly with normal union tactics.
The usual total lack of vision, myopic mediocre thinking and planning.
The best we can do is discuss a name for it which will probably be an Aboriginal name anyway!
Heaven help Me!
ps>> Sir Reginald Ansett Airport

Richard de Crespigny
Dick Smith
Bogan International or Westie Field
Rooty (delete Hill) International
The Great White Elephant
Sydney West Poorcamp
Where's Wagner
The 6 Billion Dollar Airport
Poor Mans Option
I'm On A Plane To Nowhere
FOB International
Foggy Field
Second Choice
Up The Creek
The Block
End Of The Line
But my bet is that it will be named
Gandangara International as the "traditional owners" of the land need to be "respected" and compensated at a rate that will likely be more than the cost of the airport itself

50 years....
50 damned years and not a sod of soil turned yet.

How long did it take the Wagners to build Wellcamp from start to finish?
This country for all its beauty and natural resources and history, is seriously a disgrace in terms of leadership of government.
This might be seen as a success, I would call it EPIC FAIL.

Andrew Delfosse Badgery International Airport..
Andrew Delfosse Badgery (Del Badgery) built and flew the first aircraft constructed in Australia and was also the first to fly an aircraft in Tasmania on Sept.10th.1914, Badgery's Creek is named after him, his wife Dorothy (Wall) was the creator of Blinky Bill and their only child Peter, born in 1925 served in the RAAF during WW2, later joining Qantas (DC3), then joining Fiji Airways, he moved back to Australia in the 70s... Why not honour the aviation pioneer and retain Badgery in the airport's name?

It could all be postponed in a few years after the next political party gets into power. Just like Melbourne's East West freeway link. That has apparently cost Victoria over a billion dollars with no link built.
