Type rating availability is the delay. They are using Singapore, Thailand and the UK and they are all full.

Curious as to the numbers that may apply for the internal spot, given you must have a frozen ATPL + not currently hold a pilot position within the group...

How can it be an internal spot if you're not currently holding a position within the group?

Isnít it just an 18 month hold before you can apply for other group positions?

Not sure, but I believe you get bonded for 3 years - don't know if you can move within the group or not.

Also smiling monkey , it's an internal position regarding the fact you must be working within the QF Group already in a non-flying capacity to be eligible to apply - I'm wondering how many applicants they will even receive?

Anyone know the details on FO base transfers? How long does it take, and does it matter which base you're at before transfer or just which base you're going to? Sounds like MEL is the most desirable and hardest to get if you want it.

I believe itís 6 months before you can transfer bases. MEL was being offered straight off to new joiners a month ago. Donít know if thatís still the case. Other bases offered were ADL, OOL and CNS.

Nah, you can bid to move straight away. Few mates have gotten their desired bases before even finishing line training after being assigned a base they didn't want at start.

Seems like it's about 5 or 6 years to command for those who joined JQ around 2017/18?. Will we see time to command decrease now, considering more neo LR and XLRs joining the fleet in the next few years?

not really, you may get the odd 4 and a bit year command like whats about to happen, but there are company minimums and direct entry commands will be coming.

I donít think DECís are on the cards just yet. Plenty of FOís meet the min, with many new hires having previous Jet experience.

Perhaps it's more they are running out of upgradeable FOs who are willing to be based in Sydney with its horrible flying, blue emu car Parks and astronomical cost of living v what they are being paid.

Yeah, I'm seeing commands come down in time massively. I am Sydney based and think it'll take me about 4-5 years total since start date. There are bulk SOs that won't meet the minimums, so those above them should be able to skip them and move 10s of slots up the pecking order.

It's going to be interesting once they open WSI, as they're talking about it being additional aircraft and crew, so that should lead to some movement - assuming they can physically get people through the door and in to the company!

Yes Western Sydney Airport, the rather delusional idea that jetstar will be able to instantaneously crew 10 airframes in 3 years time when they can barely find the pilots for their current operation. Does anyone remember Jetstar HK?

How popular is 'Highline' and do many pilots choose to opt in? For those who opt in, do they usually get allocated duty on their additional days?

Especially starting out, for a couple of years you don't get company bonus anyway (3% highline v 6% non highline). So you are better off on highline financially. FOs in Sydney and Melbourne are crazy busy at the moment anyway so couldn't tell you the last time I had an available day. But if you get one you'll be working every single one. ( and standbys). Personally I think you'd be crazy not to be on highline unless you are a commuter and prefer the roster stability.

Are you able to bid for an NZ base if you are currently based in AUS/ vice versa?
