Can anyone shed some light on current workloads, rosters, QOL and hours for the two Jetstar bases being hired for? Is seniority still around 9 years for a command, give or take?

Am I correct in assuming the 2015 EBA is still in effect with an annual 3% CPI increase to date?

Command probably coming in a bit now to less than 9, prob 7 for syd command- lots of movement atm.

yes pay is still 2015 eba level. So owed 4 x annual payrises come July.

hours April 65-70 rostered + standby.

Anyone know what what the type rating is like in terms of funding? Applicants required to fund transport, accommodation, food, etc? Are there any per diems?

Paid from day one, type rating attracts a 3 year bond for return of service. Depending on where type rating is done can be up to 3 years bond which decreases with service. Transport, Hotel paid for and allowances for meals also. They moved away from self funded type ratings a few years ago and had plans to do everything in house but still send some people up to the UK and Singapore when required.

Do you mind asking me how you know this? The EBA still lists FOs being placed on year 1 pay for the first 4 years in lieu of a bond and I've heard through the grapevine that the company thought process is that Jetstar hires type rated pilots, and therefore you're not paid until the type rating is completed.

They most certainly do not.

What I mean is, Jetstar hires type rated pilots. Therefore they will fund the type rating, however you won't be paid until company induction because you're not a type rated pilot.

you are not paid from day 1. JQ will pay for type rating and pay for your hotel if you’re sent over seas. You do not get paid a wage or allowances until your actual start date. Type rating is payed back by being held on L1 pay for 4yrs which is about $50+k in lost wages.

Thanks for your reply. So just to be clear, the only thing that is paid is accommodation, you're not given a per diem or anything of the sort for meals/etc whilst training?

You are not a Jetstar employee while you are training prior to induction. This is a very deliberate policy by HR to ensure that you don't have any claim against them if you don't pass the type rating or induction check flight. It is also why there is very little Jetstar content in the training but you are expected to be completely familiar with Jetstar procedures during the induction check. So from day one of your actual employment with Jetstar there is very little incentive or desire to embrace the whole "Jetstar family" BS.

Guy I started with had over 5000hrs on the 320, he still had to do the whole type rating. Only difference time on type will help with us line training. Might be reduced to 60hrs instead of the 80 or 100 hrs.

Have you had an interview recently out of interest? Or scheduled?
