Yes, looks like hold filers will be waiting for a considerable amount of time. Still probably a good place to be for when it does start moving again though. Just need to be patient.

What are the chances that the hold file will be dissolved?

Is there a limit on length of time in the hold file?

Historically not. We’ve had cadets that were on hold for over 2 years. Whilst it was painful for them it did work out in the end.

Sit tight, it’ll sort itself out eventually.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on with recruitment for Jetstar? Have they / are they going to wipe the hold files?

I understand they're currently operating at 105% of pre-COVID levels, is this a good sign for recruitment?

Do you reckon they will take from the hold file, or start from scratch? Makes sense to take from the hold file, right?

Isn’t this figure just for domestic though?

I’d imagine their pre-COVID Bali capacity alone would have been significant, without that (and other INTL) they’d have plenty of spare room to boost domestic services.

Yeah I assume it'd have to be domestic, because there's no international atm.

But aren't they talking about bringing in the 787s to boost domestic capacity?

Should really be looking at the Tiger Airbus body. I know many that sat on the left that would gladly take the right seat until retirement. The group isn’t as aged as Virgin. Would sort of Recruiting for the rest of this decade.

That would be my decision however not my call to make.

There are quite a number of people on the hold file. All I'm trying to do is figure out whether that's a safe place to be.

Nothing safe about a hold file.

With the current (pre Vic lockdown) schedule of domestic flying they are utilising 53 aircraft. 6 more A320’s to come from Japan boosts the fleet to 59. Currently crewed for 61 A320/321 on the current schedule.

Add the 787 domestic flights into the mix, and the dilemma of the rest of the still stood down 787 crews, plus NZ at about 50-75%, there doesn’t look like any need for new hires in the near or mid term.

The best way to get into a jetstar aircraft at the moment is to apply to become a flight attendant. As long as international flying is blocked and States go into lockdown there won't be any NB recruiting.

So people have started getting emails gauging desire to remain on the hold file.

Does anyone have any idea what this "mini refresher interview" might entail?

I wonder if the emails are coming from QF HR or JQ. JQ pilot resourcing was outsourced at the start of the pandemic.

Or are they just trying to gauge how many of their hold file candidates actually remain?

Yeah, I think that's exactly what they're doing, but the email has mentioned that those who wish to remain on the hold file may be offered a mini refresher interview.
