Wow
It's not an MCC course. The FTA short course is 2 weeks of PF/PM IFR sims and 3 weeks of Dash 8 ground school. The remainder of the Dash 8 stuff including the TR and MCC is continued at Sydney upon employment.

Definitely not cheap.

It’s simply a way to get into Qlink if you have no experience...that’s the path of the future

Just noticed the QFPP 2019 link was deleted from the QF employment page. Closing date was 31/3/19.
Any ideas why it was removed?

Could well be the case. Over 450 pilots between SAA+EAA now, with rumoured 100ish on the hold file.

The word is "this year's courses are fully subscribed" and as others have posted the restriction is their capacity to train in the aircraft. That workday notice is old and as such I would not rely on it.

A quick google of "fully subscribed" suggests that yes.

Sorry I’m just a dumb az pilot that got taught Bernoulli's theorem real well but not England that great.

But in all seriousness, crazy to believe that they’ve filled up the next 9 months of courses! But if they’re rumouring 100 on the hold file with 6 or so on each course then I guess that makes sense!

I highly doubt they’ve planned the next 9 months of courses with individual names. What they’re probably saying is they have sufficient numbers to fill the remaining courses. They will most definitely continue to recruit and if you interview well/have good qualifications you will be higher on the hold file.

Its no longer a joke. Keep that sex change in mind boys. Looking at the updated seniority lists last intake had 5 females to 1 male. Did some digging and apparently it was to coincide with international womens day.

Attrition currently is at an "all time low" (according to powers that be) as the only people really leaving are those going to QF Mainline at the company's discretion (bar a few here and there.) As such, recruitment has slowed and they seem to be back to running 1 smaller course every 6 weeks or so. Mix of Q300/400. Lately courses seem to be mostly Sydney hires but its fair to say there will be Brisbane slots available.

Ground schools coming through are still around the 10 mark so it isn't as much as the highs seen in 2018 but they are tiny amounts either, similar to the intakes of 2017. Other aspects of the company also affect the rate at which new hires can come through, for example a large amount of upgrades are happening currently which is taking up sim slots.

External influences are winding down the attrition, quite a few people on hold files at different airlines who have slowed intakes but are now taking more through, so expect to see more movement to external carriers (Alliance, Emirates, Virgin) and also internal transfers to other groups other than mainline.

There experience coming through ground schools is still pretty good with a large percentage getting into the D/E pathway.

For those interested, 14 May happens to be the next start date for ground school, although I have no idea about numbers or entry method.
