Well there was only 5 last month...gone are the days of the so called 16+. For the last 6 months they have ranged from 5-9 per GS

On a seperate note, first direct entry captain starts in the coming weeks.

Any ideas why? Surely there is enough experience amongst the ranks from GA guys? Rex upgrade charter guys with 500 multi within 6-12 months.

The experience levels of the current FO’s don’t meet the requirements for an upgrade. There are 7 CPT vacancies on the 300 in BNE as it stands.

Direct entry CPT req - 3000hrs + 1000hrs multi PIC (on multi crew AC)

The way of the future

Woudn’t Most of the problems discussed here be solved with a Qantas Group wide integrated seniority system ?

Where do they plan on getting these folks from if not from overseas?

Which is silly, because 300 BNE CPT's (and F/O's) are working a little more than 20 hours a month!

They also have recently upped the command requirements for in-house guys (700 on type now up to 1000/1500 depending on entry pathway).... Yep, here come the saffers!

I think you'll find they have actually officially lowered the minimum time for FO's in the company to upgrade. It was set at 1500 hours company time and now is a tiered system, it is still 1500 for Trainee, 1000 for D/E or 700 for guys that start with previous Dash time.

The 700 was always a waiver that the CP could enforce and not the actual minimum, this was based on individual performance through cyclics ect. There is still a clause in the OM that the CP can lower these minimums.

The only D/E capt so far is actually from cairns, all the south african's are starting as FO's

What was the email I saw saying in the last intake 6 out of 7 were female?
There’s thumb on the scales and then there’s that. Or are 85% of applicants really female...

Wow you need a degree for this?

A guy I met a few years ago did the long course at FTA and neither him or anyone else on his course were offered employment.

Pay for training/a job begins again. I thought this ended a few years back.

'Upon successful course completion, trainees will be eligible to enter the Qantas Group as a Turboprop First Officer with QantasLink'...... Only eligible...... But no actual job.

They'll fill the courses...

I’m pretty sure it’s not open to everyone.

As we continue to develop our pilot community through our dynamic partnerships with nominated Universities across Australia and New Zealand, we are excited to present our next recruitment and selection dates for students who have successfully obtained the following;...
The “Qantas Future Pilot Program” has been designed in collaboration with five universities across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, and is open to aviation students at UNSW, Griffith University, University of Southern Queensland, Swinburne University of Technology and RMIT University.
https://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/me...ion-of-pilots/

The real question should be how many of the graduates are not already employed or on the hold-file (not just a Q)? My guess is Q have an idea of the numbers, hence offering this program.

Cheers

BE
