Exclamation QantasLink Application Onhold

Hi guys,

I attended the assessment day for QantasLink a week ago, and also completed an online quiz and video interview. This week both of my references were contacted. It seemed positive basic on the feedbacks from my managers. But today I received an email saying my application is on hold!!!

Does that mean I'm not successful? Then how come they say that they will let me know if there are positions available for the next 12 months.

I'm very confused. Does that mean my reference went wrong? Please help me. I just don't understand what happened.

Thank you.

No, that doesn't mean you are unsuccessful.

Employers have to be very careful not to give an applicant the impression that they have the job until it is absolutely certain that the person will be employed - this is due to excessive litigation in the past. It means that you are on a list of candidates that are being considered so, you will have to sit on your hands and wait for the decision to be made and hopefully it will be positive for you.

It might also have something to do with recruitment being put on hold until an IR issue is sorted out.

If I were you I'd drive my Chevy to the levy, assuming it wasn't dry.

Does the email say:

"I am pleased to advise that your application has been successful"

?

Anyone else a little surprised that someone applying for a job with Qantaslink isn't aware of how a Hold File works?

*EDIT*

A quick google search would have saved you a lot of worrying as well

http://qantaslink.bfound.net/det-con...&CoId=189&rq=1

All I googled was Qantaslink Application On Hold and that was the second link!

2 ground schools for the Q400 for external applicants to start late Feb and early March.

In addition, commencing April, 6 x Q300 slots every 6 weeks until the end of the year.

For anyone thinking of putting an application in, now wouldn't be a bad time.

The 2 Q400 ground schools are the only chance (at this stage) for someone to go directly onto the Q400 unless you end up in CNS or MQL. Everyone else can expect to end up on the Q300 initially.

Unfortunately there are still plenty of "duds" getting through the fence. Can't be too careful with this recruiting business.

Has anyone been given a start date for the early March course? Also does anyone know roughly how many will be going through per ground school?

It's all in the EBA.

Sunstate EBA 2015 Clause 25.5 (Transition Arrangements)

If you join without 2000hrs aeronautical exp and an ATPL, then the figures in table 25 apply.
If you join with 2000hrs aeronautical exp and an ATPL, then FO's get 65% of the Year 1 Capt rate for the fleet they are on.

I suspect the Eastern EBA has something similar.

Fairwork or AFAP will have the pdf's.

Take the year 12 and the physic requirements away and they may actually get some suitable command applicants. Pilots with lots of time on type.

If they need to throw in another few additional training hours in to thrash out previous/bad habits, wouldn't that be a better solution long term?

Interesting the Qantas taleo site has no mention of HSC requirements but the AFAP site has it as a requirement

HSC Physics was dropped as a requirement for Qantas group airlines a few years ago. If it's not on the actual QF site then I'd say you don't require it. Someone's probably rehashed an old ad for the afap site.

*EDIT - I can't see anywhere on the AFAP site where it asks for physics.

Hi people,

I'm chasing up information about 'video interview' for direct entry FO.

Had anyone done one recently or can remember what was aksed?

Cheers YCOY.

The interview is meant to get to know the candidate. There's no right or wrong answer. Answer it naturally, simple.

No.

It's not necessarily what you say but more how you say it.......

The usual interview stuff I'm sure, confident, mature, look em in the Eye, firm handshake, don't bull**** etc etc...

Would you know how a DEFO with ATPL and the appropriate hours will be treated i.e. start on the Q400 with an reasonable base salary to live in Perth for example? What's a typical roster look like in terms of duty hours, overnights, days off?
