No, haven't heard anything although, for what it's worth, Wikipedia is suggesting 10 Ejets being leased to Qantaslink in 2016.

Because Wikipedia is a trusted source

Qantas announced that Airnorth has give an extansion to fly 5 ERJ 170 and ERJ 190 for Qantas from 2016
(WTF is an extansion?)

Reading into this, I would say that the orders that Airnorth have for more E-Jets (if wikipedia can be trusted) would just further the codeshare agreement that QF and TL have.

Or someone is stirring ass gravy.

Maybe this is part of the December to Remember?

Would 5 E190's cover the B717 flying that is currently being done ex DRW and CNS?

The 10 x Ejet's also includes the 4 E170's currently in the fleet.

I see they are looking for a COO, and they had a CEO change not all that long ago. Have there been many changes since Bristow took the reigns?

It would make sense for them to get more E-Jets to cover the Qlink 717 services out of DRW. Frees up those 717s to be based east coast or WA where B737 services to Northwest ports are being significantly reduced....

Sounds great for the boys up there.

Until they sort out some characters in the training department though it'll be a stretch to crew them

Wonder if AN will base two crews at Wellcamp, or will they rotate crews through. Great development for the company.

It will work as long as they don't charge through the nose, $450 return to Melbourne good luck with that.

The difference with this route compared to their monopoly regional runs is that within an hour of wellcamp you have BNE with 35 flights a day to Melbourne from $50 each way...

Air Australia tried something similar ended in tears...

mmmmm...

A clever move me thinks, one just needs to look at the demographic of the Darling Downs region. A fair few retired cash up old farmers, a bunch of "tree change" folk and a reasonable defence presence.

It can even be beyond the hour 45 to BN when you hit traffic. I know a bunch of guys and girls who will pay (within reason) for the convenience of travelling direct from BWW. Friday afternoons out and Sunday night in would be a hit I suspect. Business types / defence would soak it up.

I guess the rub is finding the sweet spot where people will accept convenience over $$. Once the TWB bypass goes in then the drive to BN may seem less onerous for people on the Western side of the range as well...

Best of luck to them I say, should be good for the region.

probably longer than that * with roadworks/traffic you'd have to allow 3 hours. OOL & MCY exist & closer to BNE to Wellcamp.

They had better ramp up the training department then, I hear there's a bit of an exodus going on there ATM

Yes both coastal airports are closer but three hours to travel about 150km? You won't get any speeding tickets. Using the Brisbane tunnels the only two lane section of the road between Wellcamp and Brisbane Airports is the 20km between Wellcamp and Toowoomba.
