Australian pilots can work for US regionals.
Commutair has been asked by UA to more than double in size by the end of the year for the amount of hours UA wants C5 to do. Nothing is certain yet, but I'd expect E3s to be back on the table in the near future. I'd also encourage anyone that is interested to email the recruiting team, and submit an app on airlineapps.com
Good hunting everyone, I think this is going to be a very exciting year.

As far as your doubts, can’t help with that but having been part of the team that had to interview at a US airline, we definitely attached more importance to those that had TR’s on a variety of types.
Possibly but the fact remains that if you’ve had the sort of training, in the time frame I described in my post, you’ll find your application ends up higher in the stack. And actually I wasn’t simply talking about getting a job, I was talking about just getting an interview.

Promise!?!?!
I agree. It'll be interesting at a minimum. I'm just one of the blind men groping the elephant but when the economy recovers and legacy hiring resumes, taking pilots from the regionals, will there be more regional-eligible pilots available in the US than there were pre-COVID ? I don't know but my guess is there won't be and there weren't enough pre-COVID, IIRC.
I don't want to derail this thread more than necessary since the situation of Aussies at US regionals is more interesting than the legacy stuff, but...to Kenny's point about recent training events being viewed as a positive for getting an interview, I've certainly seen that mentioned on the seemingly endless list of things said to be a positive in the eyes of the legacy HR people.

I left SkyWest about 3 years ago and this morning I find an email from them to say they're now hiring FOs and to put an application in! LOL. Thanks but no thanks as I'm very happy flying back in Aus. But for others who wish to give it a go, here's the link from their email. https://www.skywest.com/skywest-airl...des/pilot-jobs
Have any regionals actually confirmed they will take on Australians again out of interest? yet to hear anything confirmed or advertised. Perhaps still far too early for that to happen.
Only heard good things about them when I was in the US. unfortunately they were one of the first to abandon the E3 program well before COVID hit and during the peak of the pilot "shortage" doubt they will be reopening jobs for Aussies sadly.

Nothing is confirmed or advertised, but have been told directly by recruiters from both Go Jet and Commute that they do have plans to restart the program.
Current issues include the logistics of running it as they are still ramping up capabilities as things recover. And also they need to demonstrate a need to the government to apply for E3 VISAs and at the moment there are still unemployed local pilots to hire.
But they foresee supply running short over the next few months, which will give them grounds to apply for E3 VISAs.

Nothing wrong with SkyWest. An excellent operation with brand new aircraft when I was there. Have a few mates still there and loving it, but just my personal preference to be back in Australia flying the same type and not have to worry about E3 visa renewals every 2 years and TSA clearances for sim every 12 months.

I have a quick question. For those that successfully got an E3 visa, how or who did the legal work for you? What qualifications were used to satisfy the requirements? TIA
This was my interview experience,
Officer: "So why are you applying for an E3?"
Me: "I have a job offer and meet the requirements. Do you want to see?"
Officer: "You're approved, NEXT!"
The last administration was a bit more hard line on immigration, and the consulates, especially Sydney, started to up their game a bit with actually requiring proof degrees and stuff, but apparently its all easy again now. Lots of E3s over here without a degree but YMMV by consulate if that is your case.

Everyone just does it themselves. Company sends you an LCA, you go for an interview with all your documents.

With the way everyone is gearing up, I'd expect things to happen sooner rather than later.
Anyone heard any new rumblings in this department? Emailed the recruiting email at a few regional airlines and haven't heard anything back.
Happy to do the leg work but was wondering if anyone else heard any rumours

I'd sure apply to all of them and update regularly just in case (emailing their recruiters is a good idea). I'm pretty sure that in the past, some have taken E3s without public mention of it.
Endeavor and Air Wisconsin are offering training-completion bonuses which is puzzling in the current environment. Not sure if that's reflective of what the regionals feel about future pilot supply.
