Just heard SkyWest have sent all their new hire class home. I know they don’t take E3’s anymore but when this happens at the biggest regional airline in the USA which has a history of never furloughing pilots in the past, then this does give you an idea of the gravity of the situation there.

US embassys in Australia have canceled those waiting for VISA interviews. At this point resuming in late April, but plans are fluid with the situation.

TSA is now shutting down effective 1st April, United gave the company zero flying for April.

Skywest not hiring and furloughed all pilots in training.

GoJet no longer have any bonuses offered for FO's effective 1st April.

****ty ****ty situation.

XJT just put out an ad on LinkedIn saying they’re still hiring DEC’s and FO’s. Sounds like they’re essentially acting as the shock absorber for what’s going on with UAX’s 50 seat flying.

Interview booked for early April, haven't heard anything from the MEL Consulate re cancelling interviews?

I think it's a capacity cut down, so they don't have too may people in the building at one time. I had an interview scheduled in two days and it was cancelled.

You went to the US without a class date and TSA approval? In the current situation?

Have been here for a few weeks, before the situation escalated this month. Unfortunately at XJT can't start class without an Social Security No , which takes up to a month to process and has to be applied for in person.

Can't get SSN & TSA AuzSide or we'd all do it!! Class dates only issued after all the ducks are lined up.

You're not the first. I was over there about 5 months ago and there was an Aussie there still waiting for his SSN and had been there for 6 weeks.

do you know what the delay was with their SSN? I've been waiting almost 3 weeks for mine as well. Same boat as Havoste.

The problem is that the schedule going forward is literally changing, day to day.

Current reductions are 60 percent schedule reduction in April - this includes a 42 percent reduction across the U.S. and Canada and an 85 percent decrease in international flights.

UAL are down to a total of 45 daily international flights to ALL destinations.

The record was broken earlier this year for wait time for SSN by an Aussie at XJT which was just over 2 months. Maybe see if you can get your old job back here and wait in oz for the SSN to arrive. At least then if/when they stop classes, you’d already be back home instead of getting the boot.

Not a bad idea however, keep in mind you'll be quarantined on arrival for 14 days and job prospects are grim everywhere now. Personally, I'd rather be back home in Oz than there right now. Glad I came back when I did.

FYI it took me 7 days to get my SSN well over a year ago. Was very surprised to hear how long it takes now.

Ditto. I got back yesterday and I'm so glad I did. There is no way I would want to be there starting right now. You're going to be at the bottom of the seniority list and it's almost a guarantee with the massive reduction in flying, if a regional hasn't already started to furlough they will very soon. Do you really want to be in the US with no job, no income, no health insurance and no way home? I sure as hell don't.

Absolutely but I stress your point on health insurance especially right now. I would urge everyone there to think long and hard right now.
